Great to hear that progress is coming along, but I'm sorry that a$$hats, like that child, make it harder to want to continue working on your projects. It is very much appreciated that you're still willing to work on this and make it public. Please keep it up if you have it in you. If you dont thats fine. Gotta take care of yourself.

Anyway...

I guess I regret not posting more news, sooner...

But N64 support has made progress. I figured out enough of the dtz stuff to start getting some games to boot. It wont be easy or average user friendly to create the cfg files for games, so this will require premade dtz files carefully created by the more skilled members of the community.

Today i planned on working on a list of links so that when CaVE 1.3 is publically released, there are a few games supported in some fashion right out of the box.

ATM, the list of games I have personally gotten to boot are...

  • OoT MQ
  • Doom 64
  • Super Smash Bros.
  • Majora's Mask
  • Banjo-Kazooie
  • F-ZERO X

And a few other games by RetroGamer and others.

There's a lean towards first party games, simply because they are easier to find the hacks for.

First I want to thank you DarkAkuma for all your work and effort to this moment and I would like to also ask you if other games like for example the Star Wars for N64 and ogre battle person of lordly caliber will work because those are games that I never player and I’m eager to do it with your amazing program

P.S don’t listen to selfish people or pay attention to those demanding without even knowing how much effort and time cost to someone to make or update a program

@DarkAkuma There are many of us here who really appreciate your efforts and hard work on this. Shame that a vocal few choose to behave like spoilt entitled children. I remember from before when you pulled Cave DB Manager because of the attitudes and I can see why but please do feel appreciated, there are lots of us here who are really grateful for the hours you put into this stuff.

If you mean Shadows of the Empire, then I have worked on both personally (with the limited time I can split between focuses) and I've had no luck yet. First party games are more reliable. But I don't plan on writing off any game ATM. Understanding evolves, and they may be able to be made to work. In the past couple days alone, some issues have been ironed out that prevented previously un-working games to work.

Actually, I did get Shadow of the Empire to boot.

But I wasen't able to get past that screen for now.

I would guess that if you could get Goldeneye working you would instantly receive God status with all Nintendo fans for the rest of time

Wow, there really are some monumental bellends on this thread. I wonder if those guys are also the ones that create entirely new threads when their pirate NSPs stop working on new OFW updates...

I've seen a lot of users mentioning Goldeneye on HOS Retroarch - you really need to give it a try on Switchroot Android - the difference really is night and day.

That said, @DarkAkuma's work will likely blow both out of the water. Its just a matter of patience. The only features i can see that are potentially missing between the two are HD textures and Expansion Pak support - but we need to walk before we try to run.

It's about what you can get to run on HOS, not android or lakka

And goldeneye is probably going to be garbage on NSO

Why does it HAVE to be HOS? I don’t think I understand your point.

If it is garbage, it’s the only option that’s supported by NINTENDO, to run NINTENDO games on a NINTENDO OS. If enough people complain, they will make it better or be forced to lose money because no one will pay for a half assed add-on.

The experience of running Android on the Switch is quite subpar, having to reboot into different OSs to do different things sucks. If you're willing to do that, then you might as well just emulate stuff on your computer or even your phone. It's the same as dual booting Windows and Linux on a computer, you end up using only one because it's miserable to alternate between the two

I take your point from a convenience point of view.

Suffice to say though, the points you've outlined won't work for everyone. Case in point, business trips/general travel for example - it makes little practical sense to cart a gaming PC or laptop around with you when you can have everything on one SMALLER handheld device. Especially when you factor in installing emulators on business owned laptops (big no-no).

I should add that the above comes from my experience of owning a sub par laptop not intended for gaming and a phone with ass-tier battery life.

I also agree with the subpar android experience. For sure its not without its faults but that doesnt change the fact that some emulators are straight up better (N64 included) - PCs and decicated gaming machines aside of course. They will certainly do a better job than the Switch no matter what way you cut it.

It wasn't my intention to derail this thread, since i believe with enough time and effort, DarkAkumas solution will be the better option in the long run - N64 emulation has been the problem child for years - what better way to solve the problem than let the original devs of the emulated platforms work it out for us?!

Edit: Thank you for your outstanding work on the AIO updater homebrew App - its been a mainstay on my console since inception and thats unlikely to change any time soon!

Idk how it's supposed to be done, but I hope someone can have the config stuff for games like WWF No Mercy. Tried using Lakka for WWF Smackdown 2 and I apparently need to overclock my Switch's CPU but I really don't want to, even if it's a small boost, in case I damage the Switch. I just want portable wrestling with the Switch, especially since 2K Battlegrounds is meh and 2K18 is just asking for trouble.

Best of luck with the N64 app, DarkAkuma, you da real MVP!!

Over clocking to the presets lakka provides shouldn’t effect hardware too much unless you leave your switch on 24/7
