Hacking Hacked Switch updated to 13.0 automatically

hey all

my hacked switch updated from 12.1.0 to 13.0.0 when I turned off automatic update in Settings. I checked and Automatic update is still off.

I played on it yesterday and i saw in Tinfoil and it was showing 13.0.0 update and then i made sure automatic update is turned off and started reading forums about the new 13.0.0 update.

Now, this morning my son was telling me that he couldnt get into Atmosphere to play Super Mario.

What he told me is that he restarted the switch in OFW mode to play Fortnite and then after a while he wanted to play Mario and he couldnt get into Atmoshere anymore. Then I checked the firmware and it was showing 13.0.0 My son is saying that he didnt update it and didnt see any prompt for firmware update.

It's a not big issue at the moment as we have Atmosphere for 13.0.0 but I wanted to find out if it's possible for Switches to update to latest firmware even though auto update is turned off.

i am sorry but now i am very confused.

I thought i would still give it a try to get into Atmosphere and managed to get into rcm mode and i selected CFW(EMUmmc) and it booted into Atmosphere and Current system update is showing 12.1.0|AMS M.19.5|E

how is this possible to have different firmware in OFW and CFW?

ok, i am assuming that my son might have updated it not knowing what he was doing.

but, has anyone come across Switch updating itself even when auto update is turned off?

That's the point of the emummc, it's completely seperate

Your son updated your sysnand to play fortnite, but that doesn't affect emummc

so, that means even if my switch gets updated to future firmware i can still boot into my jailbroken EmuMMC which is on 12.1.0?

the only downside would be if any games updated not to support 12.1.0 anymore which will essentially force me to update my EmuMMC to 13.0.0, correct?

and, to update my EmuMMC to 13.0.0 do I do it from Tinfoil?

But update your atmosphere version first. Otherwise you can't boot the console correctly.

If your console is unpatched, you will always be able to boot CFW because the exploit is tied to the hardware not software.

Not trying to hijack this post. I had updated my SX OS hacked switch for a while and realized that SX OS probably won't have any update in the future. Should I update it via atmosphere? what's the latest firmware atmosphere can hack? Obviously, SX OS stopped at firmware 11.

Do you mean nintendos online services? Bad idea. Use emummc and ofw for online services.

AMS 1.2.3 supports OFW 13.1.0
