So I had some questions before attempting to mod a switch:

1. What is the biggest memory card the switch can store?
2. Any issues that have come out of it? e.g. what likely causes it to brick
3. Can I go online and not get banned?
4. Should I use my main account or use a throwaway Nintendo account?
5. What it the most common issue people get banned for?

Any other tips?

1. 1TB
2. Nah u will be running emunand not a problem
3. NO
4. Main
5. Going online

Just to be clear.

When you say go online, you mean connect to the internet or connect to the e-shop or do you mean playing a game online?
Playing games on Nintendos servers/eshop as long as u don't send any data to Nintendo u won't get your switch banned and it's always a console ban not account ban

I presume the guide will go into detail to tell you how to stop sending info to Nintendo?

You get banned for piracy and cheating online mainly. If you use atmosphere with title redirection and just some homebrews/sys-modules without any pirated stuff and sigpatches you can use it online pretty safely. There are a lot of ppl who haver been using it for years like that an they are not banned. But nobody can 100% guarantee you safety from a ban.

Ehh don't go online at all.

There is a hidden rule when it comes to jailbreaking you are making a trade free games and homebrew but you can't go online. In all fairness from a person who have pirated consoles and also buy my games it is a good deal. I don't want to go online with people who cheat and mod games because it would cause displeasure in my online gaming experience.Kinda bad enough hacked pokemon are being used in competitive play but hey what can you do... if you are a good trainer you should be able to handle hacked pokemon but you get the point.Just buy another switch if you want to play online.

You can't have your cake and eat it too... All those software updates comes with EULA and etc..etc.. strictly forbidding you from running unsigned code online hence no reason to risk it. Stay offline all together. I've been doing that and I never had a system get banned.

That reminds me. Can you play pokemon through the local wireless connection? So if I was close to another switch user with pokemon. Could I play with them and not be considered going online or does that not work like the 3DS did.

Yes you can do local. I do it with my girlfriend, we also play stardew and a few others

That is awesome as I don't want to pay for online subscription anyway and the real people I battle are the main enemies and not some random online.

  1. The Switch supports up to 2 TB SD cards but those do not exist yet
  2. The only issue is that you risk being banned. As long as you're not stupid, you will not brick the console
  3. No
  4. Main Account is fine as account bans are few and far between but if you don't have one, a throwaway account is recommended as certain games require a Nintendo Account to function

Keep your CFW activities to emuNAND (with 90DNS and PRODINFO blanking so it can't call home to Nintendo and you can still use wifi safely in homebrew) and your sysNAND clean, that way you can use your sysNAND for online in legit games.

1. atm the largest card is 1TB but the max it can used is a 2TB card when one is made
2. messing with the fw of the chip is most likely to brick it, best to use the sx gear payload files to boot any payload i.e hekate

4. they ban consoles not accounts, so it shouldn't matter
5. using mods/cheaps in online games, installing nsps

you should use an emunand for homebrew and sysnand for online and do a nand backup before doing anything

Please stop recommending 90DNS in 2021. Incognito with tinfoil is good enough. If you still insist, use the DNS.mitm feature in newer atmosphere releases. This does the same thing as 90DNS just locally. So no need to use slow, alternative DNS.

They're interchangeable as far as protection goes. All I meant is it never hurts to have an extra layer of protection. Whether that's 90DNS or dnsmitm. I actually forgot that was a thing as I don't use either myself, I'm fine with just Incognito. But that doesn't mean having 2 layers of protection isn't a good idea, especially for someone who is less experienced with console hacking and might make mistakes and mess things up.
I should point out that Tinfoil's Incognito hasn't been needed for a while though, since PRODINFO blanking in Atmosphere does the same thing.
