I just got my EZFlash Omega Definitive Edition and wanted to relay my issues, and how I eventually solved it in case others hit the same problem.

I had a Samsung 128GB MicroSD card lying around, so I wanted to use that (even if I'll never hit anything above 64GB). I checked the docs, and it says that for MicroSDs above 32GB you should use exFAT (which I prefer anyway so yay).
I used SDCard formatter (Mac OSX) and proceeded to put some files on it.
Booted the thing, and got the "initial error".

1. Tried to reformat as FAT32 : "initial error"
2. Tried a smaller card (4GB) with FAT32 : got the expected file list!
3. Tried to reformat the 128GB card with Disk Utility instead, both FAT32 and exFAT : "initial error"
4. Had a look at the partition table, and noticed it was GUID type, but the smaller card had MBR type
5. Reformatted the 128GB card with MBR type partition table and exFAT, put some files on it : no initial error, but the files weren't showing, progress?!
6. Reformatted the 128GB card with MBR type partition table and FAT32 : good, I could now see the files too!

So for some reason, at least my Mac cannot format the card as exFAT in a way that the EZ-Flash Omega DE wants to read.

I'm curious, do other people have success with exFAT on EZ-Flash Omega DE?

Maybe the official documentation could be updated to reflect that the SD Card should be formatted using DOS/MBR style partition table?

Why would I do that? Worst advice ever. I got it to work. Did you actually read my post?

There are various problems with exfat and Mac together, I'm a Mac user also. My exfat SD cards are all formatted under Windows, a virtual machine can simply do the job, Virtualbox is free.

I'd like to know the details then, any reference to the various problems? Using a vm for this is a lot better advice than
