Hey guys,

Noticed a high amount of Kernel Panics when I go into rest mode in latest 7.02 Worst thing is I have to reinitialize everything or nothing will work.

It wouldn't be an issue if I could come back from one without reinitializing the disk and loosing everything.

Specifics:-
-Firmware 7.02, using Hen or newer Hen + rest mode fix
-Random Kernel panics shut down my console and state PS4 cannot be started.

Tried following solution:
Start in safe mode and try the following:
1: Change resolution
2: Reset to default
3: Reinstall firmware 7.10 from safe mode
4: Shutdown console for more than 20 min

Nothing seems to work besides reinitializing, this formats my ps4 and I am back to square one.

Differences with my setup : 8tb SSD installed, 100s of PKG installed as trying to use the PS4 as a streaming platform.

Are there any solution and reasons why the PS4 will not start unless its reinitialized, I thought the jailbreak didn't write or modify the system after a cold boot.

Why is this happeneding?

Thanks!

afaik, rest mode doesn't work correctly on 7.02. I don't know why it's forcing an initialization. yes, that will format the hdd. others have reported corruption due to kernel panics, but it seems to be rare as some have had hundreds of kps and never had this problem. grab your saves with exporting and trophies with either trophy backup or manually (look in @KiiWii 's guide I think for trophy location), reinitialize, use account activator with your aid, reinstall pkgs, restore saves by importing them, restore trophies. how to get out of initializing in the first place I don't know.

Do you think this is something that can be resolved in time with an update on 7.02? I'm not sure its going to work if I have to reinstall every time this happens.

Was expecting to just be able to restart normally and continue, but a full reinitialization that happens on random is a deal breaker :(.

not sure. that's the unfortunate aspect of ps4 exploits. they're so unpredictable. that's one thing a lot of people waiting on 7.51/55 are about to find out for themselves once that exploit is released. the ps4 stuff is just plain frustrating.

I hear you, the 10% success rate on 7.02 is also not great, but if it was only that and increase stability I could live with it. Full reinitialization every few days not so much. Is there a firmware that is rock solid and you would recommend? Probably going to start hunting for a new console if I can't get these KP'S sorted.

I have a phat on 7.02 with hen 2.1.3 beta and this happens to me too. There's nothing wrong with your setup, just the exploit is not stable. Also noticed that if I put my console to rest mode immediately after I got hen working, it works without any issue. But if I launched anything (game or homebrew) before entering rest mode, it will kp. After white light changes to pulsing orange light, I can hear the fan spinning up again, then it just shuts down. Next power up will show a checking hard drive message but so far no data loss due to kp. Btw what's your console model? How's your exploit success rate?

Btw if you looking for stability I'd say get a ps4 pro on 5.05, that's the most stable setup.

Hi Randy,

Thank you for sharing your experience, good to know I am not the only one. Not sure on the model #, but its the Last of us part 2 bundle on 7.00 (PS4 pro). I just updated it to 7.02 and ran the 7.02 Hen Jailbreak.

My success rate is pretty low, about 10% if I am lucky. Sometimes it takes forever to get it running, like 10-20 tries.

I can try to see if forcing a rest mode immediately helps. It justs gets very tiresome to reload all the pkg every time. Almost starting to think to hunt for a different console with a more stable firmware.

What causes a forced reinitialization, does the jailbreak writes something to the HD that can potentially cause this or just a cause something a jailbreak can cause in some cases? Or just the crash that corrupts some data on the hard drive? If it was the later I would figure it wouldn't happen every time, but each time I get a KP its back to safe mode and only option that works is a full restore.

Edit: Btw, when you get the ps4 disk check does it tell you the PS4 cannot start? I get that message and my only option is to put the 7.02 firmware in a usb disk and reinitialize. I can try to go to safe mode, but it will never reload the ps4 back to the OS, keeps going on a loop asking to put 7.02 usb key and none of the options seems to fix the problem other than putting the firmware back and reloading entirely.

Well at least you are using a pro so theoretically you have higher success rate when launching hen lol.
Also wdym you have to reload all pkgs? Reinstalling all of them? Just wait till the checking system storage progress bar finishes, usually it takes like 10 seconds on my phat with 1tb ssd.

I do, the problem is once its over it tells me the PS4 cannot start. It prompts me to put in a usb with 7.02 or higher. When I go into safe mode and try all the options I get that same screen. Seems the jailbreak messes with something for me when it KPs, loose everything every time :(.

Upgraded my disk to a 8tb SSD, not sure if that has anything to do with it...

Just dont do rest mode is all we can tell you. Also the success rate is pretty accurate b/c its a 10% chance for it to work. Aside from that 7.02 rarely gets KP from exploiting the ps4 into hen or mira its only a rest mode issue.
But it sounds like you need to delete your cookies/site cache especially if you got failed attempts.

have you tried reinstalling the firmware? you may want to try a different host for the exploits.

I did reinstall the firmware a couple times, think I will try a different host and see if I get any luckier. Definitely not been easy getting this to work lol. Thanks for the help mate!!

Think I will fallow that tip, will just disable rest mode altogether. Has been nothing but a pain!!

I'd say try another ssd or hdd? Clearly the power loss due to kp caused some damage and data loss on your ssd.
For exploit host I'd recommend these two:
https://chronoss09.github.io/sleirsgoevyhost702/
https://hakkuraifu.github.io/PS4xploit/
Both have hen 2.1.3b

So the SSD seems responsible for the forced reinstalls. I put in the original ssd and after a reboot I got right back into the PS4 gui. kp now are just a simple reboot, qvo nand is definitely not going to work for this. Seems my only other option is Micron with their 3d nand on their 5300 pro with power loss protection...

For all who are wondering what SSD I was using its : SAMSUNG 870 QVO SATA III 2.5" SSD 8TB (MZ-77Q8T0B). Perfect recipe for disaster when you KP.

Pretty expensive disk to have all those issues, guess it's going back. Anyone recommends a good internal 8tb SSD that has been proven to work well with PS4 pro and won't have these failures? oNLY SEE THE mICRON 5300 pro... yes its crazy expensive.

That thing's EXPENSIVE, costs as much as two ps4 pros lol. Anyway I'm satisfied with my WD 1tb ssd and it holds 10-20 games. You could try external ssds and I assume they are less prong to data corruption due to power loss.

So do you mean that 7.02 only problem is just getting the exploit to run, it takes many tries, but no kernel panics when the exploit fails or from opening and closing games ??

I'm new to all this and I have a PS4 7.00 and want to use it for jailbreak

Pretty much I dont see it as big deal it can take up 5-7 tries, but it boils down on which host you use. If it takes you 10+ you need to clear cache/cookies. I always see ppl stating 7.02 is bad or they can never hit the exploit simply b/c they dont clear their stuff.
https://hakkuraifu.github.io/PS4xploit/ this one seems to be the most reliable one. Kenal panics only happen frequent toward rest mode. Make sure to use Hen or Mia Beta payloads

That's great to hear, I'll try and tell my feedback.

Another question, do you know how to dump digital games and DLCs ??
I mean how can I access these games to dump them if I can't log in to my account due to the old firmware ?
