Hey guys. I am new to GBATemp, thanks for having me.

Well, I have a couple of doubts since I play Super Smash Bros Melee and my Wii broke (so I could not buy a new one, I have looked for methods to be able to play Melee on my NSwitch). I haveI tried Lakka, and despite its poor performance, I looked everywhere and I have seen that on Android or Ubuntu Linux on the Switch it is much better.

What is the most recommended?
I had seen Linux, but I do not know if it has compatibility with the Gamecube Mayflash control adapter, if I have to overclock (and if Android also had to overclock..) I await your answers.

Trying it on Android is probably the best option at the moment. I haven't tired it on Android 10 yet, but my experience on Lakka was laggy, and I couldn't get it working on L4T. I don't know if I had my drivers installed improperly but it would give Mesa errors every time.

Just get a copy of Super Smash Bro Ultimate if you want to play Smash.
They don't want to play Ultimate, they want to play Melee. It's actually a different game.

I think Dolphin performance in Lakka and Android is pretty similar. But Android is more optimized for touchscreens, and you can do a lot of other things with it like use streaming apps and Kodi, so IMO Android is more useful overall.

Still a smash game regardless.

But they don't want to play Ultimate. They want to play Melee. Your suggestion is entirely unhelpful.

Yeah I think that Android is a lot better than L4T for handheld usage. I've gotten a lot of mileage out of docked L4T Arch Linux as a low-power workstation for some Linux development but it's not the best for most people.
One thing though is that in my experience Android needs a faster SD card to be stable.

Ouh. Right now I have Lakka and Linux. I will have to install Android, to play Melee through Dolphin on Android if I have to overclock, right? Thank you very much, Okazaki-san.

Douitashimashite. I would try it on Linux if you already have it installed. I think the Mayflash adapter will just work as a USB HID device to expose the gamepad to Dolphin. I think that when I was messing around with stuff I ruined my driver installation, so you might have more luck. Android is also picky with its SD cards, none of my Sandisk SD cards work properly. I got it to boot on a no-name card that I got from Yodobashi for free, but it lagged very badly. The only one I have got working properly was a high-end Samsung SD card that I bought for recording 4K drone footage.

Wow! I actually have a 32GB Samsung, on the box it doesn't say about drones but it does say to record in 4K too, haha.

I will test the performance on Linux and then on Android, I will advise on the performance. Among my doubts are if I should overclock or if I will be able to play decently with the Mayflash adapter.

Good luck. I would be interested in your results when all is said and done. Last time I tried Gamecube on my Switch was well over a year ago, so I'm curious how it fares now.

If you play it on Linux, you may be able to use slippi rollback to play online too. https://slippi.gg/
Chances are you'd have to compile it yourself, but that could be a fun thing to do

Although the best way would be a computer

Oh shit, I just realized...with Android on the Switch, one could install the Parsec mobile app!

OP, if you have a good gaming PC capable of good GC emulation, why not try that? It's not perfect, but Parsec is good enough to where one can play fighting games on it, provided your connection is good enough!

This is actually a really good idea, I use Parsec with my friends to play Smash Melee and Ultimate. I host on Yuzu on my PC and they connect to it from across the country.

This being said, does the Hori Split Pad Pro work on LineageOS for the Switch as far as you or anyone else knows? Because that might breathe some new life and utility for the device for me, personally!

Hey, Okazakiieou. I have tried Dolphin on Linux and the performance has turned out to be unstable in frames per second.

I have been researching and apparently my best option is to opt for Android, since specifically in Melee it can go to a stable 60FPS. Even activating the 2.01GHz Overclock on Linux, it is still generally unplayable.

27-35 FPS at all times and jerks at times. Have I done something wrong? I ask the question why can't I really find information about Melee on Linux and its best settings, and if there aren't any. Android, here I come.
