USB Loader GX on the vWii is not reading my external HDD, it freezes on the initialize USB step. I managed to get it working once by loading GX without the HDD connected, then I exit the app and run GX with the HDD connected and it worked one time (started a game, created save data, load save data on a separate attempt). But after that it is just getting stuck on the initialize step.

The external HDD I use is the WD Easystore External USB 3.0 Portable 2TB with a Y cable. I have read online of other users having some issues and they suspect it is the USB 3.0 possibly causing the issue. Have any of you had issues with USB 3.0?

Switched from USB Loader GX v1262 to v1271 still ran into the same issue
I tried changing the Loader ios from 249 to 58 (read HDD but loaded up a game and it crashed, did not read HDD on a fresh start up after that)

Could this be an HDD issue or do you guys recommend I try something else before buying another HDD?

Which USB Ports on the Wii U did you have used/tried please ?

I have only tried it connecting it from the back using the Y cable. Data cable in USB0 and Power in USB1

Thank you.:)

It is maybe really a "Recognize" Issue.....
Do you maybe also have a modded Wii ?

For the vWii you can try @blackb0x Mod,it is a "further" Developed Version with some Changes and Code Cleanup.
The Developer @Cyan is actually not working/further developing the USBLoader GX.

https://gbatemp.net/threads/usb-loader-gx.149922/page-1316#post-8856063

It is based on r1272.
For myself,I can say it is working perfectly for the Wii and vWii.:)

Maybe you should try this Version.
Loader´s IOS 58 maybe the more "compatible" Choice for the Loader.

Good Luck
Thank you.:)

Success!!:grog:

Was able to recognize the HDD no problem and runs the game no problem!

However when selecting a game it takes me to Nintendont and has me select the game again (previously I would select the game from GX and it would load me straight into the game and not nintendont). When I am in the game it is also saying that there is no memory card inserted. How can I get it to recognize a memory card so I can save?

Great to hear,so,on to the next Step.:D

You talking about GameCube Games correct ?
(...it would be weird,if you start a Wii Game and Nintendont starts....:rofl2:)

So you/we should check your Nintendont Settings,I presume.:)
Did you boot the USBLoader GX

- via the Homebrew Channel / vWii
or
- via Forwarder/Channel from the vWii Menu Screen
or
- via Forwarder/Channel from the Wii U Menu Screen please ?

Thank you.:)

Please try to boot the USBLoader GX via the Homebrew Channel and check if that works with the GameCube Games please.

Did you have used the USBLoader GX Forwarder from here please ? :)

Loaded GX from the homebrew channel in the vWii and got the same results, no memory card detected and still directed me to nintendont.

You probably just need to configure the Nintendont settings in the USB loader again.

And for this please:

Yes the loader is from there!

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

You probably just need to configure the Nintendont settings in the USB loader again.

What settings do you recommend I change? Seems like the previous version of GX came with all the settings already updated so I am not sure which settings to adjust

Also please under the "Custom Paths" Option check the
"Main GameCube Path" please.:)

If your GameCube Games are on the USB HDD -> usb1:/games/
If your GameCube Games are on the SD Card -> sd:/games/

and

"Nintendont Loader Path"

If your NINTENDONT Folder is the USB HDD -> usb1:/apps/nintendont/
If your NINTENDONT Folder is the SD Card -> sd:/apps/nintendont/

Thank you.:)

I changed all my settings to match yours. Main gamecube path set for USB HDD and Nintendont loader for SD Card.

But still no luck, still having to manually select games from Nintendont after selecting the game from USB Loader GX.

I made some changes from within nintendont and enabled "memcard emulation" and now I can save games. However I select Auto Boot and it seemed to work when loading up Fzero but I then selected a different game from within USB loader GX and it autobooted me into Fzero again. I disabled autoboot for now from within nintendont.

Any idea why I am being forced to select a game from within Nintendont after selecting the game from USB loader GX?

Nintendont Specs below:

Nintendont Loader v4.446 (Wii U)
Firmware for Nintendont is 58.25.32

Maybe Updating your very old NINTENDONT Version to the latest Version can help.:D
