I'm currently trying to reset my sysnand so I can have a clean start and upgrade my current firmware to 11.0.1. I am currently using hekate v5.0.2 with either atmosphere 0.9.4 or 10.0.0 on firmware 9.0.1. Any attempt I have tried to update hekate and atmosphere has failed so I figured this would be the best way for me to get a fresh start. However, every time I try to launch Haku33 it comes up but when I press the 4 buttons ( ZL - + ZR ) my screen goes black and my switch shuts down. Any info or help would be greatly appreciated.

Also I have no clean nand backup, I modded this switch what seems like 2 years ago and am certain it is lost.

To my understanding, if you don't have the Auto RCM mode enabled on your switch. You can format the switch to factory settings (Or erase the Micro SD Card, the switch should boot to OFW) then you can update regularly through System Settings and it will give you a clean start on OFW. Mind if you want to go back to CFW you would need to put your device back into RCM mode with a jig.

Also, you should make a NAND backup now if you haven't already. It's not going to be "clean" but if something were to go wrong you would have a restore point to go back to vs not having one at all.

If I update regularly without "cleaning" my system I have a high chance of getting banned though right?

Also yeah I made a backup right before starting this whole process in case something went wrong

Factory resetting does not give you a clean slate at all. If your nand is dirty it is dirty. You should have ran emunand and kept sysnand clean.

This is why I was trying to use Haku33 to reset my switch. I wanted to clean my system nand as much as possible and this seems like the best if not the only chance of doing so without a nand backup. My original goal was to use this to reset and then update my ofw so I could then do things the right way and create an emmunand with the cfw

But someone has been banned for using it plus the Switch tracks if logs are cleared so you might have put yourself at more risk.
