Unless they change their name for their next product, to start on a "clean" slate.. But people are so hungry to hack their consoles and go into piracy, even if they didn't change their name, if they come out with a piracy solution first, people will still buy it. Look at all those people trying to get a modchip for their Mariko, Lite or patched Switch console? They know future update status is uncertain, and they still want that modchip!

Those chips are still the only solution though. That's why people want them. It's either those chips with a questionable future or well, nothing. (I think that atmosphere can be booted by the chip now anyway).

It's also not just people hungry for it, just not everyone expects support until the end of time. Other than the usual suspects with an axe to grind, not sure why people expect it, it's always been that way with commercial products in this area. You get support until you don't, always been that way, you know the risk going in.

GBA carts, supported until they were not and you have to use community anti-piracy patches etc to get games to go because your cart/loader had dropped support.
Slot 2 DS, supported until slot-1 was out, then too bad, buy a new card.
Chips for wii, plenty still with broken streaming audio and the manufacturers abandoned without fixing it.

Just the way it is

Even if you know support is going to end at some point, still not a terrible deal, so people will buy.

Gateway was £50 or so. For that you got 2 years of great support, at the start of that the "free" option was a leaked unstable firmware. First to the 6.X keys, that were suppose to end homebrew/hacks or whatever, first to play newer games like smash bros. Did they drop support eventually, sure, no different to most other products in this area, but still a decent deal if you got it at the start.

If this is the last of SXOS, again £50 18 months ago. Good support and unique features for 18 months + still one of the smallest payload dongles that you can still use to boot otherstuff if you want and a good quality jig (at the time a lot where shitty paper clips, rather than soft brass/copper pins). Not a terrible deal.

So not a surprise people would still jump and buy if they are "first" next go around.

Any Mariko users with SX Core just go over to Atmosphere 0.17, it's easy and safe. There is a nice tutorial including links to all the required files. You can do it with or without installing Spacecraft NX over the SX firmware, but I decided to flash my chip with Spacecraft myself as I've no intention of going back to SX even if they do eventually continue to support it.

YMMV on this - no guarantee it will work for you but on my particular console/chip, Spacecraft-NX is faster at glitching, more reliable at booting up (SXOS >3.04 introduced black screen for me regularly on boot) and on my Erista I can still use the SX Loader payload to boot SXOS should I find a reason to. Using it to chainload fusee-primary through Hekate and it works great.

The best Solution for all who accidentally updated their Switch is to boot Atmosphere and Downgrade from 11.0.1 to 11.0.0.
It also works for Mariko Switch Consoles, i already downgraded two Consoles (one of them was a Mariko) to get SXOS to Boot.

Both the legal issues and the lack of an update this long after the release of 11.0.1 (a minor update) are unprecedented.

I did not say there won't be a support update released for 11.0.1, although it does become less likely as time goes on without one. I said the future of TX is unclear due to the legal issues they're facing. SX OS might never receive another compatibility update, and SX OS users should at least explore using Atmosphere, just in case. Even if a support update for 11.0.1 is eventually released, any update could be TX's last.

The history of Gateway 3DS is repeating itself. Updates take longer and longer to be released until they eventually cease altogether.
3ds was already nearing end of life

Gateway died long before the 3DS neared its end of life.
Like I said NEARING. not long before. I have a gateway I know.

The last supported update of gateway was I think. 11.2.0-35U (October 24th, 2016) for 11.2

I don't use it anymore since the 3ds was DYING and I have switch now. It worked fine last time I used it.

Stop spreading misinformation.

Gateway hasn't released an update since 2016, dude.

My bad was some time since I used it and i mistook 11.12 for 11.2 . 3 years difference whoops.
So was there a reason why gateway 3ds wasn't updated no more?
Isn't it because there were better hacks later they felt they didn't need to and gateway3ds didn't provide much anymore?
I mean like SX OS still provides some unique function to the hacking scene.

Gateway was no longer profitable, since there was no reason not to go with the free CFW options, so they stopped supporting it.

I predicted long ago that the same was likely to happen to TX sooner rather than later, but I didn't anticipate their legal woes being the final nail on the coffin.

There is a difference with the switch though. there IS a reason to go with TX. So in that sense you can't compare imo.

Whether or not there's a reason to go with TX (unless the Switch is patched, the data shows people don't generally go with TX anymore), their legal issues have made it so their future is uncertain. There is reason to believe support updates have ended for SX OS, given how long it has been since 11.0.1 without an update.

What data are you referring to? there is no such data.

I posted some polls back in 2019, and the results showed, among other things, that a majority of SX OS users were early adopters (pre-August 2018, before signature patches were available with free CFW). SX OS usage as a percentage of CFW usage was also on the decline.

The same thing happened to Gateway when free alternatives became available, and when it was no longer profitable, updates stopped.

Yup, especially now updates from SX are no longer required to continue using the mod chip. It also allows those of us that want to have a modded Switch for homebrew purposes to flash Spacecraft and then do so with a clear conscience in the knowledge that the dodgy, stolen code/keys are no longer onboard.

Some poll don't say much imo. we all know the excessive sx hate. so ofc polls will return atmosphere on the rise. also 2019 lmao....

Watch, as soon as 3.2.0 beta for SXOS drops that supports v11.0.1, Nintendo will release a new OFW update to block it. I fucking hate this cat and mouse game. Luma CFW on 3DS at least dropped new updates within a day most of the time after an OFW release, but TX is so fucking slow at it, they release an updated boot.dat just to have it blocked again in a few days... It's definitely frustrating, especially since we paid for it. I can't stand using NSP files, XCI for life. Just wish someone would port the XCI loader code to an Atmosphere patch so we can wash our hands of SX OS for good.

Because of TX's uncertain future, you may have to switch to Atmosphere and NSP files for newer games/updates/DLC in the future.

I agree. XCI mounting is the ONLY good reason to stick to SXOS right now. Having a hard disk with the biggest games stored there in custom xci format (game+update+DLCs) is just unbeatable. Unfortunately no one seems interested to release a way to achieve that on Atmosphere, which I find strange. To me, it's not much different to having sigpatches available freely. Why are sigpatches OK but not XCI mounting?
