Right, im just want to use the switch for receiving save files of Pokemon sword / shield to use in checkpoint.

Also, if i do create a user on switch, will it ask me to upgrade to latest firmware in that case I'll lose my unpatched switch
To legitimately link a Nintendo account to the Switch, you have to update to the latest version, yes. If you do not want to update your Switch, you will have to use a homebrew application like linkalho to create a linked account.

Is there a reason you don't want to update to the latest version on your Switch? If it's RCM vulnerable, then you can update the Switch to the latest version supported by your CFW (Atmosphere supports 11.0.1, which is currently the latest system version). The only reason you definitely wouldn't want to update your Switch is if your Switch is ipatched and trapped on 4.1.0.

If i do update it, and link a Nintendo account, will i still be able to hack it following that noob guide?

If the Switch is RCM vulnerable, yes you will. Is it RCM vulnerable? What system version is it on? Have you attempted to send an RCM payload to it before?

Its 4.1.0 version
Serial number XAJ70020693322

I haven't attempted to send an rcm payload before. I've done nothing but ask questions on here.

Please help me mate. Someone here did send me a noob guide to hacking it. But it doesn't say if i should have a Nintendo user account signed in.

And if i do update it after i create a Nintendo account, will i still be able to carry on with the noob hack guide?

I have a jig ready, a 64gb sdcard, and a usb type c at hand.

I don't want to go online on this Switch. I just want to receive save data from pokemon shield and use checkpoint and send the save back to my original switch which i trade with online.

You can still use the fusee-gelee part of the noob guide, even if you update your Switch. Make sure your Switch is RCM vulnerable (your serial number suggests it almost certain is).

You probably don't need to link an account before doing anything though.

Thank you.

I'm gonna go ahead and give it a shot.

I have checked the switch. It has a profile. Some saved data but can't function without the cartridges. It doesn't have Transfer Save File option, I'll create a Nintendo account and link it to that one. It's asking for a System Update.

My system update is done and its on 11.0.1. Can i still start the noob guide?

I've not been keeping up with switch stuff, is SX OS still the only cfw that can install .nsps from a usb stick? I know you can install over usb on others by connecting to pc, but is SX OS still the only one where you can just throw the .nsp on a usb stick and install it from there?

Thanks.

I can't seem to figure out how to install split game files to the Switch. I used NS-USB to split game files and transferred the files to my Micro SD card. Then I tried using Goldleaf and Tinwoo - but there is no option to install. I see the 2 split files in the folder on the micro SD card. I would greatly appreciate some help.

No need to split them and then transfer to the SD card, just install the game over usb, save you the trouble of transferring data to the SD card and risking killing that SD card flex.

Thanks - how do I transfer over USB without splitting?

Just install the game but selecting the nsp file on your computer when the switch is connected, you need to install the driver if you don't have. Save you the trouble of splitting a file larger than 4gb and transferring to the sd card.

Thanks - how do I get the driver? I found a YouTube video that talks about Zadig but I am missing the driver. Not sure if that is what you referred to.

I’m using tinfoil and SX installer I put nsp files on the SX card but some games are not installing and some can’t even see it.
MK base and update installed but all the DLC keep saying fake or garbage
Monster hunter rise nothing happened stuck on 0 mb.
Hyrule warrior calamity error nca
Luigi mansion won’t show up at all
Who want to be a million stuck 0mb

So I was able to get USB install working - not intuitive at all but whatever.

Is there a way to update Switch games? A lot of my games are asking for updates but its not going through using emunand - I'm guessing some protection from SXOS.

Is it the game asking for an update or the console asking fo the update?

You misunderstand the concept of USB support. That is not a feature of CFW but rather of homebrew applications. Technically, it could have been implemented in homebrew applications as long as the author was aware of how to do it such as with libusbhsfs. To answer your question, there are homebrew applications that have gone out of their way to implement HDD support such as DZ and TinWoo installer.

Whatever happened to TinWoo installer?
