Hey guys.

Sorry Im a newb and dont even own a PS4 yet.

But if I get a used PS4 from someone is it possible to soft mod fairly easily? With that soft mod can you then play backups of games downloaded online (Of course games which I already have physical copies for).

What should I be looking for to ensure it is soft mod capable (Serial number vs firmware version vs Pro vs slim).

Thanks

will that allow for a relatively easy to install soft mod? With that soft mod can you install games to the system and load from USB?

it's not hard, but it can be time-consuming when you get into things like dumping games. most work has to be done by the system itself.

Thanks. So Im more familiar with the Switch and they have like a special adaptor you have to have to mod it. Nothing like that needed?

And for Ps4 I can pretty much play any backup I download online provided its not corrupt?

as long as it's a fake pkg, they should work. however, some have to be backported to work on lower firmware. if you're on 7.02, you should be fine. however, you're more likely to get exploit failures, so that's the reason some people, including myself, are on lower firmware. 7.02 is relatively new, so it's not that stable atm.

no additional hardware unless you want an esp or wifi stick to make sure you never connect online and accidentally download an update or something. you can do everything for free, so it's up to you. I use a sandisk connect myself to self-host.
