I assume yoou either want to see the insides of the disk, or try to salvage it.
If trying to salvage it from a clicky usage, unless you have another identical HDD to act as a transplant donor, you will not get far.

If you want to see how a disk is, use a small plier and destroy the screw. Or buy a small torx screw driver. For a dollar, you'll get one.

You maybe only need to replace the Controller Circuit Board.
If it is about the Data you want to save.

A: With a screwdriver.

"Star screws??" Sound like you might need torx.

You can get a little set with one handle and many interchangeable "bits" for cheap at Lowes, HomeDepot, hell even Walmart.

I just want to switch the HDD I can’t seem to take it out without unscrewing it I’m not trying to dissemble it

Then you need an exact same controller. Do you have it? If not, you might as well use it as a door stopper.

You don't need to remove the screws from the hard drive itself to take a hard drive out of a computer, are you sure there aren't any other screws around it? Could you attach a photo of it?
