disc2app fixes that.

it directly creates the installable files on the sdcard, skipping the whole wud dump process. you then have to load wupinstaller to install them.

The closest thing you will get to a file manager for the Wii U is the vWii homebrew app "WiiXplorer", which works well!

If you have homebrew channel installed in vWii mode, you can use WiiXplorer to modify the contents of your SD card.

But this does not give you acces to wiiu content, i would also like a file explorer for wiiu, sinds i got like 5 usb devices with 300 games installed each :P

Hey guys, not sure whether it would be most-appropriate to revive this ancient thread or create a new one, but since a few people were asking for a file explorer here, I'm going with the former. Mods: please feel free to move this to a new thread if you so wish.

I too have been longing for a decent file explorer on the Wii U for years, but haven't had the time or dedication required to create one. Plus I've been doing all my gaming on my Xbox One for about 1 1/2 years. Anyway, the point is that I'm out-of-work at the moment and have gotten bored with my Xbox, so I'm thinking about revisiting this subject.

If it's not too late for everyone who has expressed interest in having such an app in this thread, I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions for how it should look and what features you'd like besides basic SD and USB file exploring.

I'd also like to humbly request help from any experienced Wii U devs who have an interest in this. I have intermediate-level knowledge and experience with creating C/C++ apps for Windows and Linux, but the Wii U is a whole different beast, and the availability of decent documentation on the relevant APIs is seriously lacking, even after 8 years of it being around!

I suspect such a group of people does not exist, otherwise we'd already have a file explorer app lol :P But nonetheless, I'd love to be proven wrong! MTIA :)

Hey mate! I'm good thanks, and you? Unfortunately I haven't and would very much appreciate the offer that you kindly made to me in PM re: the 4TU discord channel.

When we were last speaking about this, I spent about a week just trying to get the WiiU-Shell source code to compile without even making any changes! After still failing, I gave up. But I'm still keen to give it a go if I could just get some guidance from an expert.

Sorry, I have enough projects and personal things to do.
A file manager isn't something I'm looking into doing right now.

If you can tell us those issues we might be able to help you.
If you're still on the 4TU discord you might ask about those errors in the #wiiu or #development channels

If only can manage the files of sd...... I dont need them..... in the future @XDeltaone can be manage the usb hdd (wiiu format) files?? or only can be manage the sd?? ((If I need manage the sd I put them on pc ^^''))
I know a good file manager would be nice but just to be sure:
You are aware that you can just use ftpiiu everywhere and any ftp client on your smartphone to do literally anything? I'm using an old debloated version of ES File Explorer but Solid Explorer or any other ftp-capable tool should do the trick.

What old version of ES File Explorer do you recommend?
