From early 2021, all Minecraft Java Edition players will have to migrate their accounts into a Microsoft account for "improved security". This isn't supposed to change the game much, it won't break custom skins or mods, and Microsoft will even be giving out a cape to all players who migrate, but what do you think about this? This seems similar to the recent announcement about Oculus VR devices requiring Facebook accounts, which most people were not happy about. My personal opinion: It's exactly stupid things like this that make me hate digital copies of games. I never want to have any stupid Microsoft account, and at this point I'd just delete my Minecraft/Mojang account if not the fact that I already bought Minecraft on it many years ago. What's next, GitHub also migrating to Microsoft accounts and forcing all users to set one up just so they can continue doing their work???
And don't tell me that "Google is your friend", even if this will cause some players to play a pirate copy of the game because the game company is causing it themselves, you still won't have the full functionality of the game because most Minecraft game servers are configured to require legitimate accounts.
