I'm on the latest 8.1.0, R20 (fw 9.2 and atmosphere10.3)
Using nut server connected with USB works fine... NSP/NSZ files are visible and install properly.
But when connected through local network IP and port (nutfs) trough nut server...
All the NSP/NSZ files are visible but when trying to install the error is:
---
This feature is not supported by this CFW.
Failed to open NSP
---
I don't understand its exactly the same file, USB works, and the network does not.
Why is that and how can I fix this, please?

isn't newer Tinfoil "designed" not to work with Kosmos or something along those lines?
Well... It may be designed that way but @Joonie86 release "Kosmos_patches_03_04_2020_bootconfig_tinfoilv8+.zip" that make it work anyway and can be found here:

https://github.com/Joonie86/hekate/releases/tag/9.2.0 ;)
I can confirm it's working with external internet sources...... Or when using nut server over USB.
--
Using the nut server over a local network (nutfs) doesn't work.
Which doesn't make sense if you ask me...
The placebo "design" efforts they are making to keep it boxed in are simply futile ^_^
this fork also works... Over USB works. External internet sources also work... local network does not!

Error:
---
This feature is not supported by this CFW.
Failed to open NSP
---

I have the same issue, I found that the network "NUT" mode is working fine,
but the "NUTFS" mode can browse the NSP file, but cannot install,
It will show "FAILED TO OPEN NSP".

Even I added the FTP protocol, it can browse the file, but it still show "FAILED TO OPEN NSP" when I open the NSP file.
(I am using hbgshop 8.1, Atmopshere 10.4 , CFW 9.2)

@jasonhk It seems it's like @blawar explained this is by design and intentionally blocked.
With an SXOS license present it works... so basically you need to pay.

If you don't want to pay then just use HTTP protocol
In combination with a static file server see my many replies here on how to do that:

Thank you for your replay! It is very clear. I will try to use the HTTP.

EDIT

i made it to get a http server running through ruby. tinfoil connection works as well, i can open the source through http protcol and port 8000
it lists all the files inside my server. fine so far ... But as im trying to install a file, it takes ancient times until something happens

i tried a small file with 80MB. that one loads after clicking it with a in 10 to 15 seconds to the "install screen"
As im trying to open something with around 5GB there happens nothing even after 10 Minutes. And thats just to open the install screen
Does Tinfoil try to extract something of of XCI or NSP files?
Is there any way to speed that up? its AC WLAN and GBiT LAN for the NAS, so there should be speeds possible up2 300mbit flawlessly

regards

check console log, it should be warning you about slow boots due to incorrectly named files. If your xci or nsp/nsz does not have [tid] in the name it will read from it at boot to extract the title is (slow). Naming your files properly solves this.

forget about TXSO, follow this guide to install HEKATE THEN ATMOSPHERE, which is FREE and far superior under every aspects.

Just use a better app such as Awoo Installer.

Can you help @blawar ? :)
I dont want to use a different installer. I like Tinfoil.

As I said, USB install works fine. I can browse through my library (and that only works if I use nutfs, I cant see anything if I use just nut, but that doesnt bother me..) but cant install anything.

And a different error (this came when I used my external HDD in my pc didnt scan the folder with my library in nut.exe, just browse through my HDD with tinfoil)

@1basti1 I get the same exact problem, for what it's worth. All of the same details. I also have SX OS license.dat in my SD root, if that matters.

Ok when I use [titleid] somewhere in the name of the game and NUT then it works.
Or at least halfway. I can see the games in the new games, xci,... sections and can install them. But I can't install (at least xcis, Not tried nsps yet) through the file browser.

Buuuuut I don't want to rename all my files. It would be so nice to install games through the file browser and not needing to rename all games.

I just use USB install then. It's much more faster.

You can use Switch Backup Manager to easily batch rename all your xcis and nsps.
