I think a “home” switch makes sense. If you have the service and all your games are cloud saved anyway, then instead of taking the $300 switch out of the living room you just grab your LITE and leave the home unit there. The unit itself would have no screen nor digitizer and be all soldered like a LITE. So for $300 you get a Switch PHAT. OR, for $400 you get a switch lite and a switch home. Plus, this would make it super easy for devs to support both. It would also mean success of the one line would bluster support for the other. (Think how last gen N3DS was the best seller and Wii U the worst.)

botw couldn't be further from a zelda game. it's a big empty world with hardly anything to do. nearly all of the shrines puzzles can be cheesed with runes and jump shield tricks. and the actual dungeons (if you call them that) are mediocre. if botw2 is going to be the shit different bucket i won't even be bothering with it.
The game is and apocalyptic story everything has been almost destroyed and the main character has no memory and has just woken up into this reality, so everything he does is new to him so the game is designed to be a learning experience for what’s to come

What makes sense to me about the Switch is to kinda treat it like cell phones, have upgraded version released every few years, next is the Switch 2, and 4 years later they could release a Switch 3, etc. etc. Encourage devs to release games playable on the Switch 1 if possible, and then offer better output when played on the later hardware, but if the original Switch simply can't handle the game, then release a game only playable for Switch 2 and later models, etc. etc. Kinda like what the New 3DS was, but in theory would grow a significantly larger collection of titles only runnable on later models of the Switch as time goes on and newer models are more widely adopted, as opposed to only having a handful and then bowing out like the New 3DS.

The appeal of the core concept of the Switch isn't about to disappear anytime soon, people will always want to play at home and on the go. So at the very least it makes sense for the next system to be a sequel to the Switch and incorporate the core hybrid concept if nothing else.

nope\ super switch FTW
Followed by the Ultra Switch.

DLSS 2.0 does all the heavy lifting, a new Switch 2 with 4k capabilities may still be slower than a PS4 Pro in terms of raw power.

Which means most new games will still work on the current gen Switch at a lower resolution, lower detail and perhaps half the framerate.

I'm just thinking of the homebrew scene if the new Switch eventually gets hacked, the possibility to run older games at higher framerate, max detail and higher resolution sounds like a dream.

I hope it doesn't come for a while, because I bought an animal crossing switch. I was lucky enough to get one by preordering. it wouldn't even be a year old then. lol however, if it does come out and it's bc, I'll probably buy it once the demand dies down.

That shows that Nintendo has very little QC. PlayStation and Xbox controllers for the most part are solidly built.

I own a DS4 controller to play it on my PS3 and it's awesome.
Because they have been using the same analog stick which has been used since 20 years ago. Just look how small the Joycon one is. I'm all for new inventions, but the problem might be not even fixable given how the joycon works.

i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?

I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol

They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
you've seen how much intel is struggling getting into the gpu market
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and nvidia is already doing ARM
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think they want to take more focus away from their gpus
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah I think Nvidia s future lays in AI GPU acceleration stuff if they can get that going it's going to be super interesting in the long term
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
AI assisted game creation might become a thing

At least that's something I think would be pretty cool.

"Now we need a spring fed river flowing down the north side and add some wild life appropriate for the biome"
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Many TBs of assets and the programming of something like that is going to be tough but I think it's something we might see in 20 years maybe sooner
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Psionic Roshambo AI assisted game creation is kinda already here, there was recently that AI that can turn any 2D image into a fully modeled 3D object, it's not perfect, but it's a starting point, beats starting from zero
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
before that there was one to generate a fully modeled scene from a 2D image
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but most recently, there was one that actually generates a working unity scene with terrain and textures already set up that you can import right into unity, that's a huge time saver right there
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and using LLMs to generate NPC dialogue and even dynamically generated quests is something i'm sure is already happening
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
will just take some time for games made using those things to be completed and released
