Looking for anyone to give me some guidance to going online with my modded switch lite, I recently have had the SX OS mod chip installed, last time I did this to a console was the PSP era so I'm a bit lost.

I understand I will be creating an emunand and backing up my system to an SD card, I plan to place all homebrew on the SD card so when I go online I can just take the sd card out.

  • My switch has yet to do a system update to the latest OFW version, is it safe to system update with this chip installed?

  • What are best precautions to take in order to stay hidden? I understand programs like incognito will actually brick my system

  • Should I remove the sd card whenever I do plan to go online?

  • Is it still safe purchasing software from the eshop on a modded system?

  • I should be placing all homebrew on my emunand which is my sd card correct?
If anyone has any additional info that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I can't answer all your questions, but the best way is to simply stay offline in CFW/emuNAND. And boot into your clean OFW sysNAND when you want to use online. SX OS has a built in stealth mode that blocks Nintendo servers, but it's not guaranteed to always work when new updates are released.
The system will not boot without the SD card I think, it needs the boot.dat.
Homebrew goes in the switch folder on the SD card.
There is no way to be 100% safe, as it is a permanent mod, even when you boot OFW it's still being launched through the exploit and there are some patches in place. But if you take precautions to keep your sysNAND clean and don't connect to Nintendo servers in CFW it's mostly safe.

Just to be clear, as long as I keep all my homebrew stored on the sd, not internal storage, that would be the best way to then connect to online as I am booted in OFW. So you'd recommend going into settings and turning off my wifi connection whenever I want to boot into CFW, correct?

If you want homebrew on the internal storage, you have to install them as nsps, those are less common, and there is not really much reason to use a nsp over just launching them from HBL. But those are fine too as they will be installed to your emuNAND.

It is safe to update the system with the chip installed. The chip is not detectable

No incognito will brick your system That is just a rumor that spreads in this stupid website. Do not use 90DNS. Not reliable. Tinfoil by blawar can install incognito which is 100% reliable and ban proof as long as you have a nand backup to restore back to or you do it exclusively on emuNAND. Keep sysNAND untouched from homebrew

Should I remove the sd card whenever I do plan to go online?
Not needed. You can boot into OFW from the SX OS menu and you'll be perfectly fine

Is it still safe purchasing software from the eshop on a modded system?
It is safe if you're on sysNAND (must be clean from homebrew) or emuNAND (which must also be clean from homebrew). If you ever do pirate, make emunand first, then install incognito. You're free to do whatever besides playing online or accessing the eshop

I should be placing all homebrew on my emunand which is my sd card correct?
Depending which homebrew you're talking about

Just install incognito on Emunand. Don't boot custom firmware on Sysnand. SX chips always carry a slight risk of being banned because even Sysnand is modified because there is no way to boot without using the chip, But I wouldn't worry too much. I have done literally everything on my switch, used cheats in online multiplayer, used legit XCI backups online, used modded games online, used homebrew, edited save files. Only thing I didn't do is install NSPs. (Only on offline Emunand)
