After this the software closes and there is nothing in the output folder.

for an update, you'll need the base pkg you used to install, so I'd suggest keeping them all as backup. can't make an update without it backporting or otherwise.

was it an issue with orbis? I've seen this error before when building a package, and it was caused by orbis assuming that the version and master version were 1.00. it's easily fixable by renaming the gp4 or base pkg. this was only with updates btw.

Nope, it was an issue with whitespace in directory path.
