After a few months of not touching my switch I updated to 10.04 with choidujournx and have the SX OS 3.0.3 BETA boot.dat file on the sd card but my switch isn't seeing the sd card and says I need to update the firmware to use it. Have I done something wrong?
I googled and apparently 10.04 is compatible with the latest sx os

Update - never mind I fixed it, I didn't select exfat when I updated the FW so I had to reinstall using a fat32 sd card

I find it easier to put the game on a flash drive and install it using the dock. SX OS has built in installer for NSP and XCI from USB so you dont even have to turn off your switch and remove the sd card. Get a giant SD card, format it to fat32 for stability and never look back.

I download games at 30Mb/sec in TinFoil - that’s quicker than downloading on PC and writing to an SD card.

Transferring to SD takes ages, I’ve got better things to do than wait around for that!

Splitting is a waste of time as well that's going back to 2018 too. Just usb install your games. You're on sx os all you have to do is load an xci on the external hard drive (have IT formatted to exfat, sd card Fat32) then you can just play the game from the external hard drive, or install it anytime.

There is no need to split or remove your sd card. Fat32 is the best format because Exfat has corruption.

Sounds like you're still stuck in 2018 too
Many don't have any corruption issues

Well that would mean some do. If you use any homebrew especially Retroarch you are risking corrupting your entire sd card the devs of Retroarch say so. So I think I'll stick with Fat32 which can do everything Exfat can do and better.

Anything else?

ian2009 - yes that will work fine. Also depending on the USB HDD you can directly plug it into the mobile switch and play XCI direct from the drive - that's what I did when I took my switch and a 4TB USB HDD with me on a 2 week cruise last year.

People keep saying stay on fat32 that limits your sd card makes it useless on windows.
It's just easier to just put it on pc and get your games without using gold leaf and other methods that take forever.
It doesn't limit your sd card....
