so I downloaded and tried the one in the OP - Update devkitPro in Cirrus CI (dborth#931)
that's the one where bsx works for me but crashes if settings.xml file is present in apps/snes9xgx and it doesn't matter if the settings.xml file worked previously.

i just tried the official 4.4.7 and it works without issue.

EDIT: did you add the latest libfreetype.a and .la back?

On the building machine the working ones are copied over the installed ones in Cirrus CI.

@fledge68 I uploaded a new file on the first page, I tested myself this one works, please test it.

I also want to let you all know that the Cirrus CI builds are working, that means that nightly build can be downloaded from the following page: https://github.com/dborth/snes9xgx

Click on the green checkmark next to the latest commit.
After that you need to click on Details and click on View more details on Cirrus CI and click on the button next to Build.

Are filtering sharp and soft supposed to look different? They look the same to me. Maybe there's something wrong on my part.

I'm not sure if you think it's an issue please open a new issue here:
https://github.com/dborth/snes9xgx/issues

I've uploaded a new version until commit:
https://github.com/dborth/snes9xgx/commit/66da7346b94a15fee432a0a0ac4a54aed11ac162

It also includes 4 changes I send in today and which are not merged yet.

The Readme.txt has been replaced by a README.md file, which can be read with a text editor.

Sorry to bother, but I really need to ask.
Is this the best SNES emulator for Wii at the moment?
I know it's hard to answer, but how it compares to Supersonic's version of retroarch?and that RX version?

Thank you to anyone who can answer

The best anwser to your questions is: No this is not the best SNES emulator, but I think there is no best SNES emulator on the Wii.

It really depends on the games you want to play:
- Snes9x RX uses an older Snes9x core, it's faster with some games because it uses less resources.
- Snes9x GX uses an newer Snes9x core which uses more resources and causes some games to be a little bit slower.
In this emulator more fixes are applied for games because it uses a newer core with the latest changes.
- Retroarch I don't know

I would suggest to try them all out with different games and see which ones fits best with your needs, you use that one as the main emulator and if you find any difficulties with a game try it in one of the others.

Is there a way to use boarders/layers in this emulator like snes mini or something like this when you set 4:3 aspect ratio at 16:9 tv?

@LumInvader, thank you!

I think it is also because of the weird times now and I noticed that it is really difficult to improve Snes9x for the devs without modifying the emulator completely. I think it's because the devs who started it had a vision how to do it and that changed over time. But also the devs changed, people went and came to modify it further, that also means limitations.

I just uploaded the latest version, which is from October were Tantric and I modified the Nightly Build to two separate ones, one for the Wii and one for the Gamecube. https://github.com/dborth/snes9xgx/actions

I hope everyone is safe and healthy and please look out for each other.
