ROM Hack Question How do people play Animal Crossing online with a hacked switch?

Hi, I saw PokeNinja on twitter giving out free Raymond and was mentioned to be using a hacked version of the game? How do they do this. I wanna hack my switch but scared because I might be banned for online gaming. I thought that going online with a hacked switch gets you banned but that tells me otherwise. I also see a lot of people selling hacked items from animal crossing for real life currency and can literally go online. Thanks for an answer!!

What he does is hack the items in offline, restart the Switch and then distributes them. When you reboot the Switch it turns off the CFW

So basically, have a V1 switch that's hacked and then hack the save offline (this affects the save on normal switch? when CFW is off) and then reboot without CFW? Is there a clear and comprehensive tutorial for this? I appreciate the reply!

Yes the hack save effects the normal save but I recommend you back up your save with Checkpoint or Edizon before you start

Using CFW and/or modified save files carry a ban risk. The only truly safe way to hack on Animal Crossing and play online is to use a hacked Switch to send all of the hacked items and Bells to a clean Switch over local play.

That being said, as long as you limit your save modifications on the clean NAND, it is possible to go online without being banned. The risk is yours to take though.

You can, but you're risking a ban if you do.

If all you're doing is running Atmosphere, you're not installing pirated games, and you're only running certain homebrew applications (preferably offline), the risk is lower.

How do you visit people on another island with CFW? Do you need a Nintendo Online? And can you use cheats like ACNHPoker while on another island or is that too risky?

You can do whatever you want if you're visiting someone else's island using local play.

If you're using online play, it's recommended that you not use CFW while you're doing so, your sysNAND should be clean, and you should not be using cheats. Cheats especially will likely result in a ban.

you can use atmosphere cfw and some cheats to spawn items and go online on other people's islands.

For local multiplayer, use ldn_mitm. For online multiplayer, use Lan Play.

I'm playing AC:NH with a v1 Switch and active CFW online too. I even switch between to backed up islands and give away villagers or items for free. Only thing i never do is having any cheats active while being online. No issues so far.
On the other side, i'm playing online with my v1 switch witch active CFW for about a year now. But same here, never play online with active cheats.
But I don't turn on flight mode on singleplayer games like xenoblade or hyrule warriors even with active cheats.

Does anyone use 90DNS or Incognito, or do you guys just go straight to online with the CFW running? I also play ACNH and I'm wondering if I can go straight online with CFW and no incognito or 90DNS

I wouldn't recommend it. It runs the risk of you getting banned. I just got banned personally yesterday from what I can only assume is connecting online and playing with friends in ACNH without 90DNS in CFW. It's risky but it is possible.
