you need to run minverchk.
if it says 3.55 or below you are good to go!
not sure about the cech2003A models but afaik all cech2003a can be completely jailbroken...? better use minverchk to confirm

MinVerChk of 3.56 is also acceptable. 2000 series is safe, it's the 2500 series that you have to watch out for.

@PikachuPrincess first look up ps3 HFW 4.85 make sure to install twice in recovery mode (very important as this reduces the chance of a screw up/brick by alot) make sure to download Rebug 4.85 Lite also another point unless you rename the PUP PS3UPDAT.PUP the ps3 won't detect it i recommend 4.85 rebug lite cause of the new .rap import feature (also available on hen v3 for non cfw ps3's)

How do I install HFW 4.85 twice through recovery mode?

Press and hold the on button down. It will beep after about 5 seconds. Continue holding. About 5 seconds later it will shut off. Let go, then press the power button again. 5 seconds later it will beep again, keep holding. A few seconds later it will double beep. Now you can let go and you are in recovery mode. Now you can install your HFW via USB. After you do it once, shit off the PS3 and do the whole thing again.

But TBH, if you’re not sure how to do this basic step you probably shouldn’t be trying to hack your console.

I noticed that the homebrew and jailbreaking section for PlayStation 3 wasnt very active here, but im hoping someone will be able to answer my question anyway.

I managed to find a jailbreak file for 4.83, it didnt require any surveys, no information was asked for, the file required a password to unzip but it was provided by the website (link below)

Files that were inside of the .7z archive

Is there any way this is legit?

The only legit source for PS3 is https://www.ps3xploit.net/bgtoolset/ . It will be a .HEX file, not a .PKG. .PKG files can only be installed after installing CFW/HEN.
