Hacking Ps3 slim cfw help please

Im looking to hack my old ps3 ..
It's been in the cupboard for a long time not being used ..
So it's not got latest firmware etc .
Would like to make permanent firmware to run emulators etc

CHECH 2103B it says on the label
With date code 0B

I have not done hacks since Wii
So pointing in the right direction would be great

If it's above 3.55 firmware you would have to downgrade it for CFW, it requires tools such as an E3 flasher to do so. There's other new options now but I don't know much about them myself.

The best place to get PS3 info is psx-place.com they can tell you exactly what you need to do.

1. Upgrade your hard DRIVE for a bigger one. easy to find in 2020.
2. Download Rebug Cobra CFW
3. Download Webman mod installer
3. Download simple file manager
3. Install with fat32 usb.
4. Copy your ps1, ps2, ps3 games in \psxiso \ps2iso \ps3iso on HDD0 using NTFS usb drive in simple file manager..
5. Reboot?
6. Enjoy everything should work! This is as simple as It can get. Let me know if you need details.

My system firmware is 4.83 not the latest 4.86..
I been on the checker and mine's code compatible ..
So can I install this from my current firmware or do I need downgrade?

No downgrade SIR. Do as he said, and then you can update to the latest rebug.

install rebug 4.83 and then you can upgrade to 4.86 via rebug 4.86, do not update fw via sony service.

Download offial firmware 4.84 and place it on usb stick, install the update offline in your ps3, DO NOT CONNECT THE PS3 ONLINE.
create a folder in caps on your usb stick:
PS3
UPDATE
INSIDE UPDATE FOLDER PLACE THE PS3UPDAT.PUP(THATS THE 4.84 STOCK FIRMARE YOU DOWNLOADED)
GO TO PS3 SETTINGS/PS3 UPDATE/MANUAL UPDATE FROM USB STICK.
CHOOSE PS3UPDAT.PUP 4.84 AND PROCEED TO INSTALL IT.
MAKE SURE YOUR 100% OFFLINE AND UNPLUG ANY ETERNET CABLE BEFORE DO ANYTHING AND TURN WIFI OFF.

Then I'm on same as guy in tutorial ..

I told him to follow simple steps, i cant help if he is watching another guide. I CAN DO THAT iN 5 MINUTES, SIMPLE AS THIS.

To be fair, they are quite a new member here. It's not easy to decide which would give you better advice under the circumstances.
