I’ve seen it on YouTube channels but never had this blue dot over my account and I have a switch since 2 years now.

It’s definitely not fake. I’ve seen it on two different YouTube channels.
Here an example:


Skip to 9:22 and you’ll see the home screen and the blue dot

I believe it has something to do with linked accounts either 3DS or Wii U and maybe when you get a friends request there(?)

The accent colour is blue on the light theme and green on the dark theme. Haven't seen the videos but it's just probably that they all use the light theme while you use the dark theme.
