So far, I've been upgrading my Gameboy systems with new shells, new IPS v2 screens, glass lenses, rechargeable batteries, new pads, and new buttons. So far, I've gotten the Gameboy Color's shell swap done along with the buttons and the glass lens, but the IPS screen and rechargeable battery parts are still on their way here.

Now the DMG got it's IPS screen, but is waiting on it's replacement shell, buttons, pads, and battery parts. I basically just threw the IPS screen inside the old shell for a test run, and to see it in action. Besides the usual upgrades, I'm also going a step further with the DMG ad adding a wireless charging pad inside. Might do an amplifier and pro-sound mod later down the road, but those aren't major priorities for me just yet.

Each one of these bad boys will be getting an EZ-Flash Jr flash cart to compliment them, with only my favorite childhood games on them, along with ROM hacks, homebrew, PD ROMS, and test programs. I'm keeping the old parts, in case anyone needs a system repaired with working OEM parts.

As more of the parts come in for these projects, I'll keep adding to this thread with more progress pictures. Later on, I'll be doing an AGB-001 (The OG GBA) with these mods, along with an AGS-001 (GBA SP).

My shell is here, and everything is transferred over nicely! Used superglue for the screen to stay in place. Just waiting on the battery parts now!

take it everyone decided this would be a great time to put new screens in gameboys , I just went with the cheapo option, screen is slightly smaller but not really that noticable unless you have it side by side with an original gameboy, now to get around to installing the lynx and game gear screens

Still looks great. I just decided to jump on the new IPS V2 screen, since reviews can't find any flaws in it. It looks and performs amazingly, and in the classic greenish-yellow that I LOVE.

cool, I just finished the game gear mod (although a little speck of dust got in between the screen so will have to open it up again to get that out, but the picture improvement is fantastic

also have the lynx 2 screen done but still waiting for the cap replacement kit to arrive before I can get that all closed up but again the image quality is such a dramatic improvement

Is that a mcwill screen?
I also did one too it looked amazing but never used it so sold it on ebay just to get my money back, couldn't justify it sitting there doing nothing!
I always wanted to do a lynx but the consoles are getting expensive now and it's something else I wouldn't play!

yeah im planning to probably sell it, as with the lynx, I have been picking up game gear consoles for years and 9/10 they are completely knackered, pretty much all game gears at this point have bad caps, but even when the caps are replaced, often the screens still have separate faults, so I have about 5 game gears with absolutely garbage screens, a bunch of dead pixels or unstable image quality etc, so im hoping to resell this one, then fix up another etc etc until I clear out all my faulty consoles

After fighting the eBay seller and getting my first screen I ordered back in March lost in the mail, and a second one shipped slower than dogshit from China, I finally got to put my Gameboy Color together. It too has a 2000mAh battery, a TP4056 charging circuit, an IPS color screen, a magnetic charging cable, and a glass lens. I added an EZ-Flash Jr to complete the build nicely.
