I've run into this with previous versions of Tinfoil and usually an update fixes it. This time I am on Atmos 0.10.4, Tinfoil 8.10 R22 and NUT 2.50 over Network so I need to find out what else could be causing this.

As it goes, you have a list of New DLC and Updates in Tinfoil, you can install them as you choose. I do this and they all say Completed but when I close Tinfoil and look at the game version it did not update, going back into Tinfoil still shows them under New DLC and Updates. If I install the same files with Awoo, be it over network or locally, it installs fine and shows up fine in HOS, Tinfoil even stops listing the game as needing those files.

While typing this I just remember to check the console after install in Tinfoil. It seems to list the following for any file I am having issue with.

Code:
Installing update.nsz
disabling sleep
blocking home button
installing application cnmt %s
already installed, skipping %s
already installed, skipping %s
already installed, skipping %s
skipping delta fragment %d
skipping delta fragment %d
skipping delta fragment %d
skipping delta fragment %d
already installed, skipping %s
bypassing firmware check
successfully commited metadatabase!
enabling sleep
unblocking home button
installation complete

If you're installing the files locally, what are the file names for the files?

Did you try the reinstall NCA option?

I think so and it threw an error, I changed a couple of things since then though so I will try again and report back and also post the error.

hmm.......try going to installed, find the game, press (X) and see if the update/dlc is there, if so, delete it. close and reopen tinfoil and see if that worked....

Missing some important info to help debug this, but I can explain some things that may help you fix it:

a) Tinfoil does not uninstall old updates, it installs new updates on top of old ones (but they are not overwrriten). When HOS sees two updates, it will use the newest one and delete the old one (eventually).

b) If you install an update and it does not disappear from new updates, this is usually caused by a mismatch between the version you say it is in the filename, and the real version of the update. If the File says it is v2, but its really v1, tinfoil will install v1, but then will continue to show it because the file says its v2.

We would need to know the exact filename, and info from the file. I will update Tinfoil to fix those %s strings in the log, and to output a log entry that says which version it installed. Keep an eye out for R23 tonight.

Also, your nut server is old, you are using it for network so it should be fine, but 2.5 wont work with tinfoil 8.X over USB.

I thought this thread may have an answer for my issues with updates and dlc. HBG is showing the New Games tab on one Switch but not the Updates and DLC tabs. My other switch is fine...exact same version and everything.

Post the console log for the switch that is not working.

I tested A and B by uninstalling the game, removing all updates except for the latest from the game folder and attempting re-install+update. This seems to have worked for the particular title I was using to test, even though during one test I did remove the game from my system and re-installed it seems an older update file might have been causing the issue. My assumption is Tinfoil saw all update files and attempted the install of which ever it saw as the newest? This is likely for the rest of of the games "stuck" in my update list as well, I've never deleted old update files just because of laziness/why not keep them if it didn't harm anything. Apparently it did cause an issue though so I'll go ahead and remove them to see what happens. This is likely also why Awoo didn't have the issue as I installed the updates one at a time to see if each worked and it would force the install. I did also notice that all of the updates show 0.0 B in the New Updates list.

Before I go through and correct all games this is happening to, what information from the file are you needing beyond the exact file name? I can't post the information here because the forum won't let me... I'll export a whole list into Pastebin or something. I did get the update for Tinfoil and it is showing the fixed %s in the logs.

The NUT window actually shows "NUT USB / Web Server v2.6" but your website listed v2.5 still. I just based my version off what the website said since I thought the version in the window bar might have meant something else and the downloaded folder only says "nut.latest.zip" I don't use USB installing anyway. On that note, I have multiple NICs on my server, each with their own static IP. The NUT window will show the IP for NIC1 but the console window will show the IP for NIC2, only connections to the IP showed in the console will be accepted. This is probably an issue I will fix in a reinstall of my server as I'll be working on NIC Teaming and have a single IP but this could be an issue for anyone else who had multiple NICs and not using Teaming, many motherboards now include multiple NICs.

That is an old bug I forgot about, I will look into fixing it
