Greetings Guys.
I am writing to ask if there is any way to make a Japanese Nintendo DSi load the games from a Flashcard (R4 Gold - Original) in Spanish or English.
I explain in more detail the problem:
  • Flashcard: R4 Gold (Original)
  • Firmware: Updated.
  • My console: Nintendo DSi Japanese.
  • My bakcups: The games I try to load are in Spanish and multi language (English - Spanish - Portuguese and others)
  • Problem: I load games from the flashcard, games that I have in Spanish, but the default console loads them in English and I can't change it.
  • Specific query: Is there any way to configure the flashcard so that the loading of games is in Spanish (my main language)?

Can you re-word the problem? I do not really understand. Are you saying the games you are trying to load from the flashcart automatically set to English?

It depends on the flashcart kernel software. If it doesn’t offer an option to spoof the system language you are probably out of luck here. (I never understood why most games don't have a language selection menu for optionally setting the language regardless of the settings in the system.)

An alternative would be installing custom firmware on the DSi and using TWiLight Menu++ for starting the games instead of the R4. TWL++ allows almost any customization including setting a language for all games – or for each game individually.

If installing CFW is an option for you have a look at https://dsi.cfw.guide/

Please excuse me for my lousy English.
Sure enough, the games that I try to load from my FlashCard.
My console is a Japanese Nintendo DSi, I bought it on Ebay. I changed the language from Japanese to English, I can't put it in Spanish, it doesn't allow it.
The problem arises only in this console since I have another console, a Nintendo DS Lite and it loads the games without problems in Spanish.
Apparently, the fact that the NDSi console is Japanese makes the games load them by default in English and does not allow me to modify it.
The games are almost all in multi language, English, Spanish, German and French (PAL games)
I think that since the console only allows me to leave it in English, the default games assume that language and when loaded it assumes the language automatically.
Is there a way to configure the Flashcard to force the console to load multi language games in Spanish?
Thank you for your answers.

Hello.:)

Unfortunately not for all Games.
But for Example
Hotel Dusk Room 215 EU

There are Cheats for enabling the Debug Menu and there you can change the Language.

Sorry,I do not know which Games also has such Cheats.:(

Thank you.:)

You can also try using TWiLight Menu++ to run the games from your R4 instead of the default kernel, as it can (as previously mentioned) choose the language to run games in, for TWiLight it is better to get CFW though since then it has full access to the DSi hardware, if you want to keep using your flashcard so it works on DS Lite too you can try TWiLight on the R4, it just doesn't work as well from flashcards...

This is an odd thing since the ds i actually region free. As people have said try using an alternative kernel (in my experience though games usually let you choose the language at the start screen)

While it is still region free for non-DSi mode games, they decided to lock the system languages (USA gets English, Spanish, and French, Japan gets Japanese, Korea gets Korean, Europe gets [insert several European languages here, I don't have a European one]) my guess is likely so that they didn't have to include translations for the system software and they probably didn't like that DS mode was region free anyways saying as they did region lock the DSi as much as they could
