1. you do realize its mobile tech, not desktop means you have to keep update it for it to keep up to its desktop hardware home consoles
2. hackers have tested what a switch with almost shield clock speed and it barely makes any differences and even with Mariko there not going turn up clocks any more than what hackers have done to balance the power usage where the shield doesn't need to worry about this. which is why the new shield is 25% faster
3 any next switch needs to be able to play the old games and since Nintendo has access to source code they can make a non-resource heavy way to play them
4. currently we are only getting first-party, previous-gen third-party games and only few current-gen third-party games so the current switch is already at its limit

why are people ok to buy a new phone every year but a game console needs 5-8 years lifespan? the switch is a mobile device and is on year 3 with 5-year-old hardware
Literally all of the little evidence we have suggests that whatever’s coming uses Mariko. Mariko at max speeds would have a 50%+ increase in GPU speeds, a 100% increase in CPU speeds, and a ~25% increase in memory speeds, that is not an insignificant improvement.
Again, absolutely nothing has suggested any sort of emulator.

well, i don't see the point in making a new switch like this and the switch would start to fall behind. the main chip isn't the only thing holding it back. they have to have something either just before or after the ps5/xbox scarlet release and these consoles are not a small jump like from gen 7 to 8

and it will be backward compatible in any case and you don't need the Tegra chip to do this

Well, whether you like it or not, Nintendo is, in fact, currently using Mariko in whatever they’re working on.

Nintendo uses proprietary Nvidia features.

what features are we talking about exactly?
nvn, which is Nintendo’s/Nvidia’s propriety graphics API which obtains better performance for allowing pretty much direct GPU access is a thing...
Part of the GPU driver is also bundled with every game iirc, which could potentially cause issue.
TSEC keygen.
There’s a bunch of other stuff as well.

like i said somewhere before , i think its gonna be a kind of dock so you can put your switch in it and get a dedicated gpu + if needed processor . make it control HDMI output and you could even dock switch lite . kinda like an addon like sega 32x . or make it standalone with the same possibility .

@ the people who don't think this is true. can you remember how many revisions there was of the 3ds? the redbox switch was released just to stop hax (and soon with TX they will fail again) the real revision the switch pro is up next.

This is hokey.

Side note for thought:
Nintendo has never named a console "name followed by number". I don't think they'd start now. If this guy had insider knowledge, he wouldn't refer to it as such, even as a placeholder it doesn't make sense... There would be an internal codename, and if he didn't once state that name, his value as a leaker is tanked.

Will Nintendo release a successor to the Switch? Yeah, eventually. They're not going to stop milking the Switch yet, though. A "Switch Pro" is far more likely. It'll probably play the same games with some exclusive titles, not unlike the "New" Nintendo 3DS line of systems. I don't love that sort of model and would much prefer it just play the same library with potential for enhancements or higher resolution/frame rates, but given Nintendo's track record, we can't count on that.

"Switch 2" pssh.

This particular rumor is 100% fake, but Nintendo is working on something.
redbox Switches exist for other reasons besides security (though the security on it is fantastic :eyes: ) :P.

They could do another die shrink for a console coming out in 18 months, which could push the battery and speed further.

What nintendo would call such a thing, if it ever exists, will not have been decided so far in advance.

Nintendo's biggest competition is from people playing games on phones, so they need to make sure they don't lose ground but they don't have to care what Sony or MS are doing.

but Nintendo is working on something.

To some degree I'm sure that is true. Sony also probably already have people thinking about the next PlayStation (after the PS5), those ideas may or may not make it into an actual product.

Working on new consoles is an important part of their business, they'd be mad not to be doing something.

Yea, that’s definitely a possibility. Currently the little support present for it says that it’s using t214 configs currently, so I’m just going with that until if/when it changes.

New Nintendo Switch Delux XL

Ahhhhhhhhh, I hate it when News sites "Leak reveals new info" and it's just a random 4Chan user, I've several of these specifically for BOTW2 and I hate it. I don't care if it's real, I don't care if it is an actual leak, If you post something, You better have solid evidence, or call it a Rumor.

I personally despise these types of "stories" and usually avoid sites that ever use that for a headline.

A former Big N employe states Switch 2 - ? coming along with BOTW 2 in Jan of 2021 and will be a home console and feature 4k 60fps, makes you wonder what their plans will be.
Will it allow the game carts to work across both systems will it download 4k texture packs to the home system? What will it mean for the portable Switch going forward?

Makes me think it will be the WiiU 2 with the Switch acting like the gamepad but this time you can actually walk away and continue to play your games on the go

Also details about BOTW2 Spoilers

take this with a small grain of salt .. I only care about the possible effects it could have on the ecosystem :)
So, the dock would be an external graphics card, this actually makes sense, and I could see there being a switch and switch 2 versions of botw 2, but I kinda feel this isnt really, perhaps just something they discussed,

When there's like 5 or 6 retail N3DS exclusives, and the practice completely dropped off with later releases, its really not a great precedent to site for mid-gen exclusive games. Its particularly bad if its a box unit, as Switch software library is not viable without the handheld numbers buoying it up.

I'd be inclined to agree if the n3DS was the first time they did this, however... essentially the same thing happened with the DSi.

Making a home-only box IMO practically requires them to dramatically improve sharing saves between systems, so you can still take your gaming on the go when you want with a mobile Swtich. Being Nintendo this won't ever happen so you can write this rumor off as fiction.

So Nintendo has brought save sync across systems to its online service another step in the right direction . Showing the need of a home console and a to go system :toot:

Thank You Nintendo for finally adding this but it is limited still

Now for them to add the ability to have multiple game play on a digital game purchase for the family plan would do wonders :)

I know is fake but 2021 ??? Isn't that too early for a new console? This is a Ripoff, one day new consoles will come out every year just like iPhones..

YES!
This is why I joined GBATemp!
GOSSIPS!

I'm gonna save money till 2021 to buy it ASAP!

On a second thought...

Let's say this:

You have:
- DS
- DS Lite
- DS i a most powerful version of the DS

- 3DS
- 3DS XL
- New 2DS a most powerful version of the 3DS

- Switch
- Switch Lite
- Switch 2 the more powerful version of the Switch

see where I'm going here?
