I think it has something to do with the sd card format (FAT32 to exFAT).

When I started the hack some months ago, I always used FAT32 as format for the sd card and a CFW without exFAT support (until 8.1.0).
Then recently we got the DQXI Demo, so I wanted to play it on CFW. However I needed to install the Demo (.nsp) but it was a bit bigger than 4GB. So in the end, I decided to update my CFW from 8.1.0 to 8.1.0 Exfat. I used Choidujour.

To have an optimal repartition, I installed everything related to Nintendo, online games and OFW on Switch's internal memory.
Then I formatted my sdcard to be Exfat and filled it with all my previous hacking stuff.

And here I started to boot into RCM mode without my usual jigg method (joycon + tinfoil) and it surprised me because I could switch easily between CFW & OFW and vice-versa without a jigg.

Process steps :
1) FAT32 sd card on CFW (without Exfat support)
2) On OFW, uninstall everything related to OFW that is on the sd card (ex : uninstall Splatoon 2 update on sd card, then pull off sd card to install Splatoon 2 update on internal memory)
3) On CFW, update with Choidujour to obtain a CFW with exFAT support
4) Format sd card to exFAT

By the way, I don't have any Dongle, I always used Joycon + Tinfoil back then.
With these steps I dunno why but I think it tricked the RCM on/off switch and now to go into CFW I just have to link it to PC and press Vol+ (no jigg required).
And it's not AutoRCM doing because I can switch between CFW -> OFW and OFW -> CFW.

Ok, so I know the answer is in here I just cant find it.

I've been out of the game for a few months and am trying to get back.

My switch was on 4.1 but now on 5.1 I believe which I updated without burning fuses. I dont remember any of the steps.

Can someone point me to the step by step directions to to update to the most current firmware?

Thanks,

Mike

So I have a patched switch and tried stuff around and got now atmosphere on it, I have a couple of games I bought and wanted to put the files basically on a hd so I dont have to switch around the cards all the time. As far as I understand that doesnt work on the patched units so is there any reason for me why I just shouldnt update my firmware from 4.1 to the newest and play the games I already own online? Only reason I would have used it was to comfortable change between my games which doesnt seem to be supported. Thanks
We do have CFW for patched consoles however it is only up to firmware 4.1. And if by "hd", you meant HDD, currently only SX OS supports such a feature. You can use Deja Vu to boot SX OS on your patched console to load games off of your HDD although there are no guides on how to do this as SX OS is not supported by the community. I would still advise against updating your console as if you update it now, there is a chance you may never get to run CFW on your console ever again.

When i block Nintendo servers over dns, can I banned for use internet connection on my switch. Example when I connect to my WiFi & online go to the homebrew store ?
That is the whole point of DNS blocking servers; to allow safe usage of the Internet without fear of a ban.

Both ChoiDujour and ChoiDujourNX enable AutoRCM by default. Check if its enabled by booting into Hekate.

@Draxzelex I have a console that keeps getting error 2162-0002, I did everything nintendo suggested, upgraded to the latest firmware, updated the joycon firmware. I still get the 2162-0002 error. I seen a few pages back you asked for the title id from the error screen, I got 0100000000001007. From searching, that title id seems to be associated with the profile selection.

Do you have any idea what else I can try?

Hi@all,
Switch OFW 5.1.0 using SX OS 2.5.2
I have just created emunand on SD, installed smashbros and 3.0.1 update nsp's and updated CFW to 6.2.0 with choidujourNX
Emunand booted fine, was prompted for controller update (declined) and when trying to launch smashbros it still asked for update?
I went back and updated CFW to 8.10 with choixNX.....and now CFW blackscreens

does anybody have an idea what my best way to proceed is? just wanna get smashbros running on emunand :)

Get the latest SX OS release. 2.5.2 is old.

Planning on using SX OS. Is their NAND backup functionality enough or should I follow the hekate guide?

If I ever want to go back to (try) play online, is restoring the original NAND enough?

Yes, restoring the NAND will be enough if the backup is clean. Personally I used Hekate because for me it is more trustworthy. Your decision.

Hello! I'm new to community, but thought I'd ask. I've glanced the forum quickly, but never owning a Switch I was wondering... I's latest SwitchOS (8.0.1?) possible to JB and does anyone know if it's JB-able on latest revision? Also, what would be the best CFW to use to have game backups ran from MicroSD etc. I know there's prolly guide somewhere here, but since I'm askin - why not. :rofl2::switch:
Oh, also.. what is a best CFW (?) that can be reverted back to original OS incase I maybe want to go online but w/out risking a console ban.

Two categories:
Unpatched consoles: Can be hacked on any firmware.
Patched consoles: Can be hacked up to 4.1.0.
In this forum there is a thread where you can check the serial number of your switch to find out if it's patched or not.
Atmosphere is the best CFW and your first step will be to create a clean NAND backup which you can restore if you ever want to.

Thank you for clear answer pLaYeR^^ :teach: One more stupid question, what does it mean "patched/non-patched" when it comes to Switch CFW? I used to have PS3 CFW but we had no such things to worry about (other than OS ver). Is patching referred to the OS version (even tho current SOS is 8.0.1 which is hackable?) or it means that the console itself has some security/OS lock?

Is your SD card formatted as exFAT?

Fusee Gelee, which is the name of the exploit where we send payloads via USB in RCM, relies on the read-only bootrom of the Nintendo Switch. Because the bootrom is read-only, this makes the exploit a hardware-based one where Nintendo cannot remove it via a firmware update. Instead, Nintendo can modify the bootrom during production with ipatches resulting in ipatched units. These consoles are identical to the ones vulnerable to the exploit except that Fusee Gelee does not work on them.

It was just an example I have currently 11 games and would like for example put them on a sd card so when I go somewhere I dont have to take multiple gamecards with me but can just boot it from an SD card for example, SX OS is not supported by the community and also wouldnt work on my console anyway as its a patched one.
Basically what I want to do is dump my games on a SD Card and then using something like goldleaf load the game on the go without having to mess around with all my cartridges. Is that in any way possible on 4.1 with patched Switch? Because if not I basically would just update firmware and just play the games online as this is the main reason I would need a CFW but if it's not possible I would rather just use the switch regularly without watching out for bans and not being able to play online or use the nintendo shop
