The battery percentage indicator would go down 1% like every 3-4 seconds until it drops down to 1%, where it can last around 2 hours before hitting 0%.

I'm considering ordering one from this link: https://www.ifixit.com/Store/Game-C...OxEke0KwU74ccf1mfSKesBFaNcQpu-mBoC6HkQAvD_BwE

Total is $46 after shipping and taxes.
That sounds exactly like the battery calibration issue that was so common on older firmware. Nintendo has official instructions to solve it that you can try, which involves completely charging and discharging the battery several times.

It's worth a try.

I'll give it a shot since I have the time over the weekend. Otherwise, I'll buy a new battery once I find a good source.

At this point, I've ordered a replacement battery from ifixit. It should be arriving in a couple of days.

I'm not sure if it's due to the battery or opening up my Switch the first time, but I noticed that the air coming from the fan seems a bit warmer than usual. Should I replace the thick pink thermal paste that's between the shield plate and the copper heat sink?

how did you go with the new battery? im in a similar situation now myself. battery drains extremely fast. not sure if i need to be buying a new battery or not.
