Hi all,

After SXOS'ing my Switch this week, I kinda regret it for a lot of reasons and now may consider selling it and buying a new model and going back to straight-edge living! lol

What would I need to do in terms of my Nintendo account for selling it i.e. removing them? Also has a 400gb card which I'd rather not sell - but would if it comes to it - but what could I move onto a new smaller SD card to keep it modded?

OR.... I'd be happy to reverse out the changes I made if thats even possible and go back to how it was before?!

Thanks for any advice!

Just keep it and use another cfw if you don't like SX OS. Unpatched switches are a rarity so keeping it would be a better idea

Thanks - its not like I dont like SXOS - just dont like the whole thought of it. Getting banned if I accidentally go online. If I knew it was (reasonably) safe to go online by booting into OFW then I may keep it as it. Just dont know what to do right now!

You can't get banned if you patch your emuNAND with Incognito and use your sysNAND for OFW only.
Just make sure you keep your PRODINFO backup safe if you use Incognito.

If you wanna play online, use an emuMMC. This is a copy of your sysMMC and acts like a second switch. Use this emuMMC for hackery. Then go ahead and restore a clean NAND backup, so you will be fine going online with your sysMMC.

if you have made a nand backup prior to having hacked it (so a nand backup of a nand clean of all traces of hack) you could restore it and then setup and emunand
sysnand : no hack, always ofw, online
emunand : hack, always ALWAYS offline

Think of all those sweet emulators your going to lose out on. Nintendo Online Services only has some crap NES games. People are craving for SNES games to appear. Why lose all that.

Thanks everyone. The NAND thing really confuses me.

Following the SXOS steps, so I did an EmuNAND step in that, backing up sysNand to my SD card, but thats as much as I know.

I boot using the cable/PC/Bootload and choose either CFW or OFW. The CFW is using the EmuNAND I believe - I've certainly not changed it from the default of the set up of SXOS.

So a few questions in reply to you guys;

@The Real Jdbye - would I have to install sysNand every time I want to go into OFW, or just chosing OFW from the SXOS booter is enough? Not sure what PRODINFO is either?

@aarti - not sure on any of this but thanks, I'll look it up

@Engezerstorung - I already have an emunand I'm using when booting into CFW. Just when I choose OFW from the SXOS booter, is that 'safe-ish' or not, or do I have to do something else?

Thanks again, really helpful stuff - appreciate it!

Don't boot from the OFW option in the SX OS menu. It's not true OFW, it still has patches like bypassing fuse checks. You should boot OFW by powering on the system normally. This means you cannot use AutoRCM and will have to use a jig.
If you have ever booted CFW or OFW through the SX menu on sysNAND you will have to restore a clean NAND backup to make sure your system is 100% clean.

emuNAND and emuMMC is the same.
If you install Incognito to your emuMMC, the prodinfo.bin gets extracted to the sd card. This prevents your Switch from connecting to Nintendo's servers.

Eek ok. So obviously I've booted into OFW using SXOS boot loader and would have gone online there. So is it still worth doing a clean Nand restore and then removing auto-rcm (I have a Jig). Or is the Switch already burned.

I think you edited your post, but the reply above said the opposite about booting into OFW and that its not the same. Do you boot between the 2 much and go online?

If you've gone online, restoring an earlier NAND backup will only make things worse, because the system logs won't match what is on their servers. Best leave it alone and hope you don't get banned. It may be fine, we don't know exactly what Nintendo are detecting. But we know that booting SX OS CFW on its own is enough to get you banned, even if you don't run any homebrew/xci or install any nsps. I haven't seen anyone say they got banned just for using the "OFW" option yet, though that doesn't mean it hasn't happened.
Just know that your sysNAND can't be considered 100% clean. Maybe 99%.

Even if you do get banned, who cares? Just dont use your main account. All the value you get out of cfw would make up for the cost of a second system.

OK thank you for explaining.

So... not more Splatoon?! I assume the more times I go into OFW and go online the more the risk of a ban increases?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I still wouldnt use my main account just in case nintendo decides to ban accounts.

So would you advise removing my account from the Switch too be safe and create new ones?

Would I have to do that in both OFW and CFW?

In theory it should be fine to use your preferred account on ofw, people seem quite sure its fine. I just wouldn't use my official account while using cfw for sure though, its pretty easy to go online accidentally.

Not if you use Incognito on your emuNAND ;) Then it's not possible to go online.

Removing your account requires going online, and causes issues with some games that expect you to have a Nintendo account. So don't bother removing it. Nintendo has told people that got banned over the phone that they could safely use their accounts on a new legit console, so I wouldn't worry about removing it on sysNAND, and on emuNAND it's just more trouble than it's worth, since you're not going online there anyway. Patch your emuNAND with Incognito, that way it's not recognizable and can't go online no matter what.

I know what you mean, I have younger family members I hacked consoles for and often times they would not listen to my warnings and would go online or update the console or otherwise do something to mess it up. But Incognito is pretty idiot proof thankfully. About the worst thing they could do is somehow boot into sysNAND CFW (of course as long as you make sure to remove any homebrew that can be used to mess things up, otherwise who knows what could happen), but that would require holding a button on boot to get into the SX menu, and manually disabling emuNAND in the settings there.
Or I guess if they got into the SX menu they could end up formatting the SD card which would be worse...
