Hi, author my ppsspp on Android keep crashing after defeating Agni

Edit: it has lots of crashes now when you keep on farming in the game. :( what i do is switching to original vers.

Last edited by Ohayo,
The other errors (Agni explode break, text/memory overflows) are tough issues, I could not find anything related yet.
The unpack & repack methods are able to recreate the original iso, identical on byte level.

Well i did a new save as you recommended, and the names are translated but after the first mission the last letter of the mercenaire are bugged after that i don't have any other problem, i finished the Agni battle normally without any break ( i play in psp go ) but i can try in ppsspp maybe the problem is with the emulator only

Edit: i finished the Agni battle normally without any break with a new savegame in PPSSPP v.0.9.9.1 PC

2. When you get the 2nd mercenary it seems like it's impossible to go out on any quest afterwards and just causes you to stay stuck in the loading screen. This happens on either version of the game (Japanese and English Patched) so it might just be a PPSSPP issue.

Actually it is related to the savefile. The savedata is always 914332 bytes long, no matter what.
The mercenary names are stored there too.
We cause the error by forcing longer texts (longer, english mercenary names vs their short, japanese name) into a fixed size savedata.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Using the english patched iso create a new character, skip tutorial, run out to the town, and save at the crystal
2. Load it in the original iso
3. When you head out in town, Dolphstein's name will be displayed in english
This confirms that the mercenary names are stored in the savedata.

Also true for the 2nd mercenary (Laurarone), and probably the rest.
I managed to transfer my corrupted Dolphstein into the original iso. And his level up text was bugged there too!
I believe the mission load hang after you hire Laurarone is related to this aswell.

I'll create a patch without the mercenary names and see if it fixes all the reported issues.

UPDATE
So it seems a patch without the mercenary file solves the level up errors, and the loading screen issue.
Unfortunately, you'll have to create a new savedata in order to fix these errors.

Agni still crashes the game. But bypassable using the original iso.

Have you released the new patch and replaced it with 1.4?

Not yet..
You can fix the mercenary name, infinity loading screen bug by creating a new savefile with the japanese iso.
It'll be fixed with the next patch.
I'm still researching the causes of the appcrash on Agni and (yet to beconfirmed by me) Bahamut kill.

The patch will be probably named as 1.4B

I just found some issues regarding text problems when summoning arcana and some monster cores and here's some screenshots regarding those issues hope this helps:)

Screenshot taken using the actual PSP

EDIT: Siegfried suffers the same text problems as the other arcana spells

Could you upload this photoset to imgur, please?

[summons] The bar at the top is def strange, will look into what causes that.
[pictures of ultimate cards] text overflow is known, (and should not break the game). The missing pictures are more interesting.
[18] That's just a text overflow error

Patch 1.4b is here! (sorry it took so long, been a bit busy...)

Instructions:
  1. Download attached archive
  2. Extract content (with Winrar or 7zip) to a convenient location (where your original iso is)
  3. Download xDelta3 from here https://www.romhacking.net/download/utilities/928/
  4. Inside the archive you just downloaded, copy "xdelta3-3.0.11-x86_64.exe" (for Windows x64) to the same location as the patch, the patcher, and the iso.
  5. Rename it ("xdelta3-3.0.11-x86_64.exe") to xDelta3.exe
  6. Make sure you have the original (clean japanese) iso in the same directory
  7. Double click on "applyPatch.bat"
  8. Drag (or type the name of) your iso and press enter
  9. Drag (or type the name of) the patch and press enter
  10. Enter the name you want for the new iso to be created (ie: LoApo_eng_patched.iso) and press enter
  11. Wait for the patch to be applied
  12. Enjoy!!!

If the game crashes anywhere let us know.

In order to resolve the bugs related to loading screen hang, scrambled mercenary names you must to start a new save.

Quick question, has the iso itself been updated with the new translations, or does that have to be done manually? I went to download the iso, and it doesnt seem to have been updated there. If it does need to be applied manually, would someone mind giving me a few pointers on how to accomplish this on android? Ive been waiting for this update for awhile now, so any replies would be appreciated! Thanks!

About patching on Android, haven't tried, but, you can give this (Rom Patcher, compatible with xdelta3 patches) a go: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xperia64.rompatcher&hl=en

EDIT: if you're going to apply the patch with ROM patcher, make sure you apply it on a clean, unmodified ISO of LoApo (not the one you may have already downloaded that was pre-patched with any of the previous translations).

EDIT2: Had not seen this comment, only replying now :3 sorry... Hope it helps.

Sweet, no crashes. Do you have plans to continue translating or are you moving on to other projects?

Ok i just found some issues regarding the armor skill names and battle arts it seems that all of armor skill names have been reverted to its original text and the battle art names has also been reverted to its original text and their skill description

@Azumablade
Yes, as I mentioned orbs and battle arts were causing the crash, so temporarily I removed them.
I'm still looking into what exactly caused it.

@Manana
There wasn't any progess with the translations in the past 2-3 months.
All we can do now is fix text overflows, fix issues of 1.4a, and do a VITA release.
Hopefully a translator will gain interest and join the team.
