Hi!

Can anyone tell my if I can install a donated IOS from another console?
In the donator console, I packed the IOS into wad package.
I said to NOT fakesign the ticket and also NOT fakesign the TMD.

Can I install this wad on another console?
This is just curiosity.. I'm not messing with IOSs... ok?
I'm just making some tests with IOS3 (Stub)
Thanks

Quit messing with iOSs

I know what I am doing...
I'm looking for an expert.
I just would like to know if it's possible to update an IOS, backing up the same IOS from another console.
The problem is the ticket will not be the same..

I know on vWii it's perfectly fine.
I'm not sure about Wii, but IOS shouldn't have unique ConsoleID assigned to them, so they should be reinstallable on other console, keeping their proper and clean ticket/tmd/signature.

It won't work for anything bought and tied to a specific console (eshop games), because it'll sign the ticket containing the source's ConsoleID, and it won't be installable on target's console. if you edit the ConsoleID, the ticket signature will be wrong.
I'm not sure what would happen if you proper sign a modified ticket (bdmod should give you that choice).

doing it on a stub is useless as you can't really verify it if worked or not, because it can't be used.
doing it on IOS58 would let you see right away (hbc upside down, or impossible to reinstall it). but don't do it without having a backup (nand, or a way to reinstall ios58 from channel, etc.)

Sure (of course, if the destination console is LU64, there will be restrictions on compatible IOS versions, and hopefully you're not mixing retail and dev systems - but that's true regardless of the source of the wad)

I said to NOT fakesign the ticket and also NOT fakesign the TMD.
Doesn't matter much - the Wii doesn't verify titles at usage time, only during installation (though of course you have nothing to gain by "fakesigning"* an IOS)

* those questions in bluedump mod are technically correct but misleading, the real question is whether you want patches to applied (like making it valid for all consoles, etc) and if you say yes then the title must be fakesigned to fix it, but that's a side "requirement" of having edited it, not something that's done for fun

You can just grab the same IOS using ModMii or NUS downloader.
Not IOS3 ;)
