I heard a new switch with come out with longer battery and CPU... what is going to happen to our old switch? I have been courious and sad
Most likely Nintendo will sell it for the exact same price, in the exact same packaging, etc and the console will have a slightly different model number, just like with the patched models. The switch is 2.5 years old and the chip inside of it is even older, and they're probably using a newer chip based on the old one to get better battery life, so it's kind of expected this would happen. You can always commit insurance fraud to get another switch, but you should decide for yourself lol

This thread https://gbatemp.net/threads/cartridge-information-collection.492311/ doesn't have any better answers for me than https://gbatemp.net/threads/list-games-required-firmware-version.485959/ does..

If my cart update strategy is a gamble, maybe I should take the safer gamble of the paperclip. (I know people say the paperclip is totally safe, but I've nuked hardware with electricity before in my life a couple times, although it was always a case of faulty wiring in the house or once even my socks).

That said, if I could find a game that contained the 4.1.0 firmware update AND was a game I wouldn't mind paying, I'd definitely drop 20$ on it. That way if it doesn't work and I lose the gamble I still have a game I can play after using the paperclip (I don't intend to pirate games, I just want to protect my switch from nintendo updates (while still playing the newest games), and perhaps eventually run emulators and such on it, nintendo's backwards compatibility and virtual console systems are both total jokes).

Darkest dungeon, as well as kirby are both interesting choices that weren't in the first thread I considered. Although picking a game that appeared on both thread's lists might be ideal (like bayonetta). Or even just picking the worst (cheapest) which would probably be sushi.
That's up to you. Most people here are going to tell you what I told you: You should use a jig.

The release of updated Switch systems does nothing to affect your older system. It's the same as it was before.

Hacking might never come to the new Switch mdoels. If you want to hack your Switch, it is recommended that you use an unpatched model (or an ipatched model on 4.1.0).

Hello.
I'm trying installing Goldleaf nsp with Goldleaf nro (0.5), but getting missing sigpatches or low firmware error. My firmware is 7.0.1 and I've dropped sigpatches archive from another thread into Atmosphere folder. This changed nothing. Should I try tinfoil?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Also, will I brick my Switch if I accidentally remove SD card while in emunand and not powered off?

  1. Are you using fusee-primary or Hekate to boot Atmosphere?
  2. Which signature patches are you using?
  3. Are you using the latest version of Atmosphere (0.9.2)?
I personally recommend using Tinfoil instead.

1. Hekate.
2. I found them somewhere here. A zip called 2.0.0-8.1.0 (I have no idea what I'm doing)
3. Yes.
I'm reading about something called Kosmos, but can't find out what it is. Do I need it? Apparently Atmosphere locked piracy by default?

I recommend doing the following to troubleshoot:
  1. Remove all CFW files/folders from your SD card (Atmosphere, Kosmos, etc.)
  2. Download the latest Atmosphere from github
  3. Download the latest fusee-primary (next to Atmosphere)
  4. Download these signature patches
  5. Put Atmosphere and the signature patches onto your SD card
  6. Put the SD into your Switch
  7. Boot your Switch into RCM
  8. Launch Atmosphere using fusee-primary
  9. Recommended: Install what you want using this version of Tinfoil instead: https://tinfoil.io/
Kosmos is a pre-packaged version of Atmosphere that includes other things as well (e.g. homebrew applications, Hekate, etc.). Atmosphere does not "lock piracy" by default. However, neither it nor Kosmos include signature patches by default, and they have to be added manually.

I couldn't figure out which folders are CFW folders so I just used fusee-primary payload in TetraRcmGUI instead of hekate. It worked and I was able to install Goldleaf (though it crashes after exiting the app) and install games from sd. So, thanks. I'll try Tinfoil and updating firmware next.

When I say "CFW folders," I primarily mean /atmosphere/ and /sept/

Hey appreciate any help as i'm so confused!

current situation.

I have switch on 5.1 and sxos on latest stable version(installed via sxos itself.)

I want to play fire emblem three houses from the cartridge, i'm not banned.
Ideally id like to be able to get online with fire emblem to get maps and future content but am not THAT bothered, I dont play online or really plan to.

when I put cartridge in I cant play it.

So I have looked up and read lots of info but am confused.

I have so far downloaded sxos 2.8 beta.. got choidujourNX and FW8.1.0 downloaded

I backed up my nand AND created emunand folder( Im not sure if thre was any point in doing this?)

whats my order of attack? am I missing anything if I do the following

Install OSX beta using the boot 1.dat file on root of sd card
upgrade to 8.1.0... on emunand or not?
do i then leave my switch sysnand at 5.1?

Then i can just pop cartridge in and play?

Really thanks in advance for any help.

Hello

I would like to convert nsp files to XCI files. I'm using SXOS

I have found this recent post on how to do it.
https://team-xecuter.com/community/threads/guide-how-to-convert-nsp-to-xci.129494/

Can you advise me if this can work?

The only thing is that I do not heve the keys yet... I read that lockpick can be used for this.. but is this for all firmware versions.. I thought I read is worked only up until a certain FW

can I google the keys.txt and use them If I found any? Do they have to match the current firmware?

Can something happen with my switch if I don't use the right key file or won't the game just be converted?
You can find keys online as they are the same across all consoles but Lockpick_RCM works on all firmware versions. As for your second question, the game will fail to convert if you do not have the right keys.

If you want to get online content for the game legitimately, you will need to update the partition you will be going online with which is usually sysNAND. However doing so normally will burn fuses and prevent you from downgrading normally which will lock you out of exploits on lower firmware versions such as a hypothetical untethered coldboot hack. If you want to update your sysNAND firmware without burning fuses, you have 3 options:
  1. The first is using the homebrew application ChoiDujourNX. Since it is a homebrew app, it requires CFW and homebrew so this runs the greatest risk at getting your system banned compared to the other methods
  2. Downloading the update in stock/OFW mode then installing the update in Atmosphere while AutoRCM is enabled. To prevent fuses from being burnt, ChoiDujourNX enables AutoRCM after installing the update. This does not work for normal system updates because they remove AutoRCM. However, modern CFW prevent this from happening meaning you can install system updates normally and retain AutoRCM thus preventing fuses from being burnt. I recommend downloading the system update in stock/OFW mode because this will limit your console going online with CFW in order to reduce the ban risk
  3. Manually rebooting the console into RCM after installing the system update. This method is by far the safest in terms of a ban but it is also the riskiest because if you fail to reboot your console into RCM, then you will burn fuses. And the success rate at booting into RCM is dependent on how good your jig is. If you wish to use this method, you can follow this tutorial for a more detailed process.

great info...

Thanks so I have the sxos jig which has been reliable so far and teh fire emblem cartridge for teh 8.1.0 firmware
so i'm going to go number three.

I have read the tutorial link and that makes sense will follow it through once all backups done.

so once thats done and I have booted into SXos and turned autorcm back on.

what do i then do if I want to play fire emblem? boot into sxos or play it in CFW?

You would boot into OFW if your goal is to play it online and get newer content legally. If that is not of interest to you, you can boot it in any mode.

Installing large NSP via USB seems like a lost cause. After hours of trying different apps they all either crash at 5% or don't work at all. Is is possible to split nsp file and just upload it to SD?

I have a question. I want to dump The Dragon Quest Heroes models when they drop but will I have to make my switch legit again and download the update and make another NAND Backup and extract the update or can I just restore it and just go in raw without making the NAND Backup?

hi guys, so i finally got my jig and im ready to hack my switch i just got a few questions.

1. I have my switch on fw 8.1.0, with my games and account, do i need 2 format my console and remove my account before following the guide?

2. I want to have sysnand to play online and emunand to do the dirty stuff, is this guide still good? nh-server.github.io/switch-guide/

3. After i install emunand, do i need 2 unlink both sysnand and emunand by formating one of them? (like in 3ds)

4. After i finish the guide, if i powered down the switch it always boot into sysnand? (and 2 enter cfw emunand i need to enter rcm and push hekate)

5. If a new update comes out and atmos suports it, i can simply update the switch normaly? (i know i wil burn fuses, but i dont care about downgrading)

Thanks guys, if u have some advices fell free to share.
