I'm on latest 8.1.0 firmware and I have no issues booting the switch or playing games.
I have two microSD cards: 256gb exfat and 64gb fat32 (which I'm trying to use to enable exFat)

I followed many guides and tutorials online and tried many times but every time I end up with an error message while updating: Error 0x805 registering ...(long hash here).nca!
It is always this file with this hash .nca... despite the fact that all the checks pass before updating. (see screenshot)

What I tried so far:

- Reformatting my SD card and putting everything back
- Executing scripts for remove archive flag (I'm on a Mac and dont have access to Windows)
- Downloading the 8.1.0 firmware from multiple sources
- Fixing the archive bit when booting into RCM mode

Does anyone else has this issue or know what else I can do to be able to enable exFat support on the Switch?

you cant reinstall the same 8.x firmware update again just to get exfat support, had try this on multiple switches already on 8,x. What you can do is, make sure you're on autorcm, downgrade to 8.0.1 with exfat, then updgrade to 8.1.0 exfat using choi.

Thanks for clarifying this. Can I safely downgrade to 8.0.1 using ChoiDujourNX as well?

If you had 8.0.1 before and use ChoiNX to update to 8.1.0 then yes, you can downgrade to 8.0.1 again. However, if you never used ChoiNX to update to 8.1.0 but you just flash to the latest version then no you can't.

I'm new the this whole CFW thing. My Nintendo Switch was already on 8.1.0 when I first decided to try homebrew.

So currently there is no way for me to downgrade or enable exfat on my console?

Why? He can downgrade to any firmware he want with ChoiDujourNX and update to 8.1.0 with exFAT. You just need the firmware files to which you want to downgrade.

No, where did you get that information ?

I stand correct:

Found it:

You can't downgrade if you don't have a NAND Backup.
You're out of luck.
Even with a NAND Backup, you won't be able to boot into it cuz a fuse were burned during the update

There you go.

Why install exfat? Just use FAT32 that is safer for your SD

It doesn't matter.. You can format fat32 and use ChoiNX with exfat.

By the way, I used exfat like he was and worked perfectly fine but I changed it to fat32 over the year later. Just because some program required fat32 only so I gave up and changed it to fat32. Nothing to do with corrupted so fat for over a year been using exfat with homebrew all the time.

Anyway, fat32 is better for my OTHER reasons.

You can downgrade even if you don't have a NAND backup. And if your fuses are burnt, you have to boot with custom payload to bypass the fuse check. But since he will upgrade to 8.1.0 right after, he will be fine.

EDIT: You should read this guide here. They downgrade with the firmware files only.

You are talking about AutoRCM then yes, you can. If you do not use AUTORCM then you can't. Correct ?

AutoRCM will always enter RCM. You don't need it because you can also boot with a jig to RCM. It seems you misundersanding something. If you have fuses burnt up to 8.1.0, you can still downgrade but not boot to it with official Nintendo boot loader. Therefore you have to enter RCM and boot with custom boot loader to bypass the fuse check.

Right, I think I am a little bit confused. Can you explain to me ? Mine was 3.0.0 and yes, I backup my NAND to be clean before I used CFW. That was last year then I update to 5.1.0 with ChoiNX then update to 6.2.0 with ChoiNX and finally update to 7.0.1 with ChoiNX. So what does that mean ?

This means that you can restore your clean 3.0.0 Backup and use the Pegascape Method (Warmboot) to boot CFW.
You can also keep using your Jig + Payload Injector.

In your Case i would create an emummc out of your current Firmware then restore your clean 3.0.0 Backup.

(Additionally: You can also create a Second emummc from your clean 3.0.0 Backup and update it to the latest Firmware to play Online)

From then you can either use Pegascape or RCM (Jig + Payload Injector) to enter CFW.
Logically its not advised to install autoRCM.

I see. So I can just use my 3.0.0 firmware in ChoiNX back to 3.0.0 then use the Pegascape and no autoRCM at all. It will just boot CFW easy and turn it off then turn it on just like non-jailbreak Switch ?

Yeah but restore your Backup with Hekate and update your emummc later with ChoiduJourNX.

Before restoring your Backup make sure to create an emummc and that its working!
