Here is screenshot from YouTube for Shield TV on Antutu v7

That being said, isn't access to console games one of the main reasons for getting a console in the first place? If so, wouldn't installing a general purpose OS like this kind of defeat the purpose?
Ofc, but it's bad to have more options? Android gives you Access to more games and you don't need to resign from Horizon. There is no cons here.

Weird. Usually notebookcheck is pretty reliable, but then again they were using v6. I wonder if the methodology changed. Also that's still less than the Switch which is weird seeing as it's clocked less at stock but they didn't say if they were using an overclock on the Switch.

Results are different for each unit. You should take in consideration 1% of score as possible error +-.
GPU is the same, CPU is weaker on Switch, but it has better UI performance (maybe Shield TV launcher is heavier for SoC as Switch uses AOSP).
So results are meeting expectations.

There are ports of Android for x86 thanks to open source. X86 is not supported by Google.

Google don't really support android, every chipset gets it's own fork by the oem. It's horrendous.

And you can't check differences in performance because Android for x86 struggles with running 3D games made for ARM.

I've never tried it, but Unity supported x86 but have now dropped it as very few phones shipped with it.

https://blogs.unity3d.com/2019/03/0...bit-and-app-bundles-backported-to-2017-4-lts/

It would seem like a bug if unity on x86 was slower than arm.

These are results from v6, AnTuTu is now v7 and each major version Has different patterns for calculating performance, so they are not good to compare.
Ah ok. I didn't know, thanks.

So has the methodology revised or is it just within the margin of error?

I already answered your question.
Tl;dr
GPU is the same, CPU in Switch is weaker, UI for Android Switch is faster.
You posted the Ubuntu vs Android thing? I don't mean to be rude but it was worded very strangely and I didn't understand what you said really. It still doesn't explain how the antutu scores are different.

It was
Switch Android vs Shield TV Android
I don't know from where did you get idea about Ubuntu.

You've shared score from AnTuTu benchmark which is an Android app and I shared correct score for v7.

What has changed from v6 to v7 I guess I have to ask myself.

This has definitely been posted elsewhere, but is still very cool. Having a mass-market, single configuration unit also means that there is a much higher likelihood that whatever comes from this will be fairly stable and updated regularly.

That being said, isn't access to console games one of the main reasons for getting a console in the first place? If so, wouldn't installing a general purpose OS like this kind of defeat the purpose?
Unless you are not aware, running Horizon (the switch's OS) or Android/Linux is simply a matter of changing the payload, the whole filesystem for the alternative OS lives in the SD card.
