L4T Lakka Switch - now with audio and Vulkan

Lakka Switch, L4T edition
I am proud to finally release the L4T version of Lakka Switch!
New kernel, new logo, new drivers, audio... everything is fresh and clean.

Did I mention Rayman 3 was full speed on Dolphin? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

General system updates
  • New Linux kernel and underlying operating system, based on Linux4Tegra and Jetson Nano drivers
    • mainline kernel has been deprecated
    • system features should now be on par with the L4T Ubuntu distribution, except for dock support
    • Bluetooth was lost in the battle and needs some rest to come back stronger
  • aarch64 is now the default and mainly supported architecture
    • arm has been deprecated since L4T doesn't support it
  • New logo made with the help of jaames and the R:S community
New features and improvements
  • Audio now works through the internal speakers and headphones
  • The new GPU driver supports both Vulkan and OpenGL
  • RAM is now locked at full speed (1600Mhz), was 800MHz before
  • The system is now way more stable and should boot for everyone with a decent SD card (no more black screen of death)
  • RetroArch has been updated to add menu widgets (fancy onscreen notifications)
  • Overclock profiles have been updated :
    • Renamed all profiles
    • Added more overclock profiles
    • Added underclock profiles
New cores
  • mupen64plus-next (N64 emulator)
    • The core is full speed, even on aarch64 thanks to the new dynarec
    • Includes the updated version of the GlideN renderer
  • picodrive (various Sega consoles)
    • The core replaces Genesis Plus GX (Game Gear support has been dropped)
  • Beetle PSX HW (PSX emulator with OpenGL and Vulkan renderer)
    • The core performs worse than PCSX ReARMed for now, even with Vulkan
  • reicast (Dreamcast emulator)
    • The core is full speed on all commercial games, no visual glitches
    • The OIT renderer works (better accuracy), speed is still good on 1x resolution
    • The core needs the Dreamcast BIOS files to be placed in /lakka/storage/system/DC
    • WinCE games are currently not supported - there is a WinCE version of the reicast core in the works but the aarch64 dynarec is too slow for the games to be playable (for now)
  • Yaba Sanshiro (Saturn emulator)
    • The core is full speed on all commercial games
    • Yabause and Kronos were also added but both perform worse than Yaba Sanshiro
  • theodore (Thomson MO/TO emulator)
Updated cores
  • Dolphin : Vulkan support
    • With Vulkan, Dolphin runs decently - some games are playable, some are full speed... see for yourself, try it and experiment with different games and settings!
  • PCSX ReARMed : Switch optimizations and CHD support
  • PPSSPP : doesn't crash anymore when closing content
Removed cores
  • mupen64plus
  • parallel-n64
  • Genesis Plus GX
  • Ishiiruka
    • It might come back once the core is updated with the (beta) Vulkan renderer
Credits
  • Kernel and drivers work: NVIDIA, switchroot team (especially ByLaws and langerhans)
  • Lakka Switch work: natinusala and plaidman
  • RetroArch, original Lakka distribution: libretro team
  • mupen64plus-next: Gillou and m4xw
  • PCSX ReARMed: Switch optimizations by m4xw, CHD support by aliaspider
  • Dolphin core: aliaspider
  • reicast core: flyinghead

Please note that you can't dual boot Ubuntu and Lakka Switch for now (it will always boot Ubuntu).

Did you use ChoiDujourNX to do your firmware? It is possible that you flashed the exfat firmware and not the Fat32 firmware. You may need to reformat sd card as exfat and run ChoiDujourNX to use fat32 firmware.

Without much information to go on, that would be my guess.
If you flash the Exfat firmware, FAT32 still works. It's the inverse that doesn't work.

Ah yes, you need to open the lakka folder (Not bootloader folder) in your micro SD card from a computer or desktop similar to retroarch (Open Removable Disk), after you opened that folder, search for the Save state or Saved games folders inside of the lakka folders. After you have found them you can just copy and paste those folders somewhere else to have your Saved Back ups secured. After that just copy and paste the contents in the same section as what you had in your other MicroSD Card. Then just boot everything up.

Im not trying to find saved games or saved states :P, again I know how to find those folders ;). I am trying to find created options configurations, EXAMPLE- I change a game settings to have Dithering Disabled- Save game core options- Saved game core options file created. Where is that saved options file lol, it is not in saved games or saved state files I have checked about 100,00 times. I want that option layout to load up on another SD without having to individually reenter every change.(EDIT)I managed to solve my problem anyhow, in the Lakka/Storage folder their is a hidden .config folder(need to show hidden files)

.config/retroarch/config/PCSX-ReARMed(what ever emulator name is)

Then it will have the (rom name).opt file name

Also Has anyone been able to get Megaman X collection to work properly on dolphin????? I was so sure this would run well ;P.
Everything seems to work ok(good speed) except when trying to play Megaman X1 the stages load incorrectly Platforms where there should be holes, invisible platforms that you can run over.
Their doesn't seem to a Safe texture cache option ;P. If anyone finds a configuration to solve this would be amazing, because the background loads horrendously.

CDI version of Skies works fine. not sure whats wrong with my GDI copy.. ill re-download it sometime.

Does anyone know why Lakka doesn't sort my Dreamcast games into its own tab like with the other consoles? I got a Wii, Gamecube, NDS, GBA, PSP and SNES tab currently but all my Dreamcast games aren't showing up with their own section. The games work though, I have to manually browse for them or call them off of the Recents tab.

Okay so I did all this. When I go to launch lakka I just just a black screen. Any idea ?

So I did auto boot now I get this little colorful flower then screen turns black again. Gotta hold power and volume to reset the system.

I put all the folders where it says to. I don’t know?

Check my posts I replied how many times on how to fix this, search for partition table or look at my history :) not sure it works for everyone but it did for a few so far and I didn't see anyone say it did not! Enjoy!

Please, that format thing is on the basic instructions, someone may think you didn't read even that

Someone replied to me and said do exfat. Anyway I put it back to fat32 and put all the files where they need to go and still. I give up.

I am not the one who said ExFat, no one should use exfat for anything on the switch, but since you cannot find my post here it is again:

- The easiest but longest is to write the L4T Ubuntu image on your card, deleting the ext4 partition, extending the fat32 partition, deleting all files on the fat32 partition and then copying lakka the same way you would usually do (do not forget hekate).

OR

- Download GParted, delete all existing partitions on your sd card then create a msdos partition table type, then create a fat32 partition.
For some reason by just doing that it worked on all my sd cards where it was not working previously!

Hope that helps, the important part is the partition table type which it seems is not created right if you just create your partition from multiple apps or command tools I tried first. There are probably other tools than GParted to do that but that's the one I used on Ubuntu. If you<re on mac or windows I am sure there are other apps to do just that.
