I realize this is a n00bish question, but I'm hoping someone already knows the answer so I don't have to do a deep dive. I'm wanting to get Mario Maker 2 when it comes out and so I'm playing online for the first time since hacking my Switch because if I'm going to get banned, I want it to happen before I drop $70 for a legit copy of MM2 and a year of Nintendo Online service. I updated my sysnand to current firmware without burning fuses. How do I prevent my Switch from updating the official way (when a new firmware comes out), thus removing autoRCM and burning my fuses? Do updates install automatically or just download automatically? Is there DNS I can use that will block firmware updates but still allow me to play online? Do I just need to turn off my wifi every time I put my Switch to sleep while in sysnand?

If I'm not mistaken, there's an option in settings that let you turn off automatic updates. HOWEVER, once you launch OFW I believe it will burn your fuses anyway to your current fw, as it is in your Sysnand.

It will only burn fuses if you boot using the official boot loader. I have autoRCM, so I'm using the sx boot loader every time, even when booting into official firmware.

Interesting, I wasn't aware of that. In this case, I believe you can just turn off automatic uptades in settings and you may be good to go.

I have had SX OS going for about a week now, generally everything runs smoothly. Running OFW 8.0.1 and SX 2.7.1

Every switch game is installed as a .nsp

I notice a couple games have some graphical slowdowns occasionally (mainly Furi - it is not as smooth as it was on PS4).

I am wondering if I should try deleting the .nsp and reinstalling it? Will my save still be intact or do I need to back that up first?

Also, I have read a lot about holding R to launch a game with full RAM - is this something that I should be doing when launching switch games?

Hello, I own a old switch in 4.0, it doesn't have any homebrew but I would like to update my switch to play upcoming games, I don't want to use any homebrew in case I want to play online at any point, will I be able to use homebrew if I update my switch in case something grabs my atention in the scene?

Hey i have a problem with my left hand which means i can't use the shoulder buttons, so as you can imagine when Nintendo didn't use toggle lock on for BOTW i was pretty pissed. I'm sure I've seen an app that let's you re-map buttons but can't remember. Any help? Cheers

I don't know what kind of slowdowns you're getting, but most certainly games will run smoother on PS4, because it has a stronger hardware given the fact it's not a portable system. But you can uninstall an NSP game and you won't lose your save file.

It is recommended to hold R and launch a game / application to open Homebrew Menu from there, instead of using the album, since it would have more available RAM, but am not sure how much it will affect your games, but worth a shot.

When you say it doesn't have any homebrew, you mean you never hacked it? Never installed CFW?

You're safe, today, to update your switch since CFWs already support 8.0.1 (although I heard that it's recommended to stay in 7.0.1 with Atmosphere, but I'm not really updated about this). I also believe that future updates will continue being supported, even if it takes a little longer for CFW to catch up with it. But this is only possible IF YOU OWN A HACKABLE SWITCH.

If you have a patched unit, it's recommended to wait in the lower firmware as possible, as it seems to be having progress in hacking these. But no one knows an ETA yet. If you ever care about hacking it, it's recommended to wait.

Keep in mind though that, nowadays, if you go online with a hacked Switch you risk getting banned, even if you have not used any homebrew. Although there are some people playing online with a hacked Switch using Emunand and SX OS. You should read about this if that's of your interest.

How close are we to finally getting a coldboot mod on the latest firmware? I don't mod systems without coldbooting, and I would rather keep online services.
Plus, I'm not allowed to hack my witch until next year, anyway, so I'm probably gonna update regardless.

You need a RCMable unit, closest thing to a coldboot right now is fitting a mod chip into your unit and setting up autoRCM and autoboot. You can't play online while on cfw you would just get ban hammer.

I can wait. I got my 3DS and Wii U one year after their respective releases and hacked them in late 2018. I don't mind, even if it takes until 2024.

Hello, I restored my clean Nand back up to go online and check and see if I was able to go online and everything was allright, it was. However when I restored my hacked Nand backup all my games were missing, I mean they were on the homescreen but a cloud was next to each one saying I had to download them all again. Why did that happened? I thought the Nintendo folder wouldn't be touched I don't know what did I do wrong or what step did I miss, I even pulled the SD card out when the restore was finished and only put it back to restore my hacked Nand.
Also, I forgot to backup my Nand before I restored my hacked Nand. I freaked out when I realized it and restored my clean one again and see if I could still go online, I could but I don't know if that might be a problem later on. I wish I hadn't mess with it but it's too late know I dont have a copy of the NSPs I had installed so if someone could clear things up for me I'd appreciate it.

Thanks a lot as always

If you have EmuNAND installed as hidden partition, then you have to copy the partition to the new micro sd too. If you don't have EmuNAND or have it installed as files on the micro sd, you simply copy and paste everything.
