Hey guys. I recently got a PS TV (Japanese white model). It was on version 1.8 so I updated it to 3.60, installed henkaku, and updated to 3.65 through enso.

I have a 250GB WD usb 2.0 HDD connected to it and everything works fine.

I own quite a few HDMI consoles and have all of them hooked up to an HDMI splitter for convenience. The problem is that I cannot use my PS TV with this setup because of HDCP.

I looked around on a bunch of forums but the only related topics or threads were from 2017 or earlier. So is there any way to bypass or disable PS TV HDCP through a plugin or software?

If anyone knows of a solution or of someone working on something like this, please let me know.

Thanks for reading.

TL;DR: Have a PS TV. Looking for a software solution to disable HDCP.

That is probably a HDMI switch, a splitter takes one input and outputs to multiple displays.
An actual splitter would likely bypass HDCP. That is assuming the HDCP version is not too new.

I'd second that. I had a similar issue with my PSTV and a HDMI->VGA converter. I ended up buying both another HDMI->VGA converter and an HDMI splitter. The latter allowed the old HDMI->VGA converter to work (ie, stripped HDCP). I ended up just using the new HDMI->VGA converter, but now I have the splitter around if I had reason elsewhere to strip HDCP.

tl;dr - Buy a HDMI splitter that removes HDCP.

Yea my bad. It's a 5 input 1 output switch. I've tried a couple of splitters to strip HDCP but unfortunately none of them worked. From what I've read the PS TV is very picky with which splitter lets it bypass HDCP.

Never heard of one - and it's possibly forced in hardware anyway (if the PS3 is an applicable precedent)

And while "better-performing solution available in stores for a reasonable price" hasn't stopped many notable ambitious projects... that would be because someone was interested in putting in the effort of doing so

The PS3 I have works fine with an HDMI switch. Only the PS TV is the one causing issues. Also I have looked at these but unfortunately Amazon does not deliver to my country and the only ones I could find online were Chinese knock-offs that didn't work. That is the main reason I am looking for a software solution.

As far as I know you can get it to work, but the PSTV is picky about what cable and splitter the PSTV used and what other devices is connected to the same splitter. I used one of these when I owned a PS TV, since then I sold mine.

Buying good quality HDMI splitters really isn't an option where I live. The only ones I've found are Chinese knock offs. I guess I could keep trying different ones until one works but I've also read on different forums that these cheap ones burn out really quickly. Is there any truth to that?

Buy a quality splitter off of eBay.

I have a splitter at home, when I get back I will try to remember to get the model number as it strips HDCP out. Think it was about £40 from Amazon.
