So I’m trying to install Homebrew onto my Switch by injecting it using my computer. These tutorials say that if you shutdown your switch and turn it back on, you’ll have to get back into RCM and repeat the process. So if I restart my Switch, will Homebrew be completely uninstalled? Also, what happens to any games I download using Homebrew after I restart my Switch? Are they still usable without messing up my Switch?
Your homebrew applications won't be uninstalled, they just won't work if you don't send a payload that boots CFW. Same goes for any games you install that you do not own; they will also not work in OFW.

I found 2 way to play game after jailbreak done by SXOS.

1. Play directly XCI game from SXOS menu. It will show game when i push A
2. Go to Installer and run to install XCI and NSP update file. After that i can delete all XCI and NSP. Becaus it is extract to switch

I have a question. Which way is best and safe ? And if it is 1 -> How can i use NSP update version or data file ?

Thanks

Not sure what you mean by safer. Both can potentially brick your console although the chances of another game being released as brick code probably won't happen again until maybe Pokemon comes out. If you mean from a banning perspective, again both carry chances of getting banned as people have been banned for each but theoretically .XCI files are safer since they are not associated with fake tickets like legitimately dumped .NSP files (.XCI files and custom .NSP files do not have tickets). And if you're wondering how to load updates/DLC in .NSP format with games that are .XCI files, you either install them normally or you rebuild and incorporate them into the .XCI file with NSC_Builder.

Hey! So I used to be up to date with most things involving switch hacking, but after a year I’m here to question progress with avoiding bans? I don’t use online to often, but I’d still like to have it as I do play splatoon and smash from time to time. I also would like to be able to use the shop and stuff (so basically avoid bans). I want to hack for piracy if I’m being 100% honest, I just want to know how likely am to be banned if I backup my nand or use EmuNAND with SXOS, and if anyone who does this could tell me about their experience? If they were banned, and if not, for how long? And are these methods guaranteed or mostly guaranteed?

Hi! I'm going to buy a hackable Switch and I have some doubts regarding emunand and sysnand.

So, SX OS can separate sysnand and emunand, what I want to know is how can I create sysnand on an sd card and emunand on another sd card, I heard this is safer if I'm willing to go online. I just don't understand the process, should I choose "create hidden partition" or "store files in SD"? Or should I make a clean NAND backup on one sd card, then I proceed to create emunand hidden partition on another SD card? Also can I just switch between OFW and CFW by swapping SD cards, or do I always have to restore sysnand?

BTW, should I clean error logs if there's any or it's fine to keep them?

So far, the best strategy to avoid a ban is by restoring a clean hack-free NAND before going online which not only involves staying offline with CFW/homebrew but also making a new clean hack-free NAND backup everytime you want to return back to CFW/homebrew. While effective, this is not efficient. An alternative is to use EmuNAND to separate your CFW and hacking from your clean and legitimate online play. Unfortunately, SX OS is the only CFW to offer support for it which costs money but Atmosphere is looking to implement EmuNAND support very soon if you are willing to wait. No one has been banned for EmuNAND to perform all of their CFW and homebrew as long as they kept it offline because EmuNAND and SysNAND do not share anything.

You don't "create" SysNAND, especially on an SD card. SysNAND refers to the NAND inside your system. You only make EmuNAND which is done multiple ways. Most people don't use the internal memory option so its either the "hidden partition" or "as a file". There are advantages and disadvantages to each. The hidden partition version is the least detectable form of EmuNAND at the cost of being harder to migrate from SD card to SD card while the individual file is easy to move around but is theoretically more detectable than hidden partition. However while the EmuNAND file is arguably more detectable than the hidden partition method, Nintendo can simply track other files on the SD card to ban users such as boot.dat. This doesn't even take into account that there isn't any evidence Nintendo scans the SD card and even if they did, it might cause them to run into legal trouble. So in my opinion, EmuNAND as a file is better but if you are super paranoid, then you can use the hidden partition instead. Either way, ensuring that SysNAND is clean once is all you need; you don't need to repeatedly flash clean SysNAND dumps. You also don't need to swap SD cards if you want to switch between CFW and OFW for reasons stated earlier. And finally, clearing error logs is more dangerous than keeping them plus the tool to remove error logs is no longer distributed for that very reason.

Thx for the reply, I guess I can see the full picture now. So I just need to make sure my NAND is clean (make a backup if I want to, and I'm obviously going to), create emunand hidden partition or file, and if I want to switch between CFW and OFW I just need to select "Boot CFW" or "Boot OFW" from SX OS menu? I might have confused myself with this two SD cards thing, it's because people say "you should use one sd card for acessing CFW and one for OFW". I think it makes sense now, it means that I should create emunand and when I want to boot OFW online, I should swap my sd card with another one without CFW stuff, right?

I didn't know that Nintendo doesn't have the right to scan SD cards, weird. I may as well end up choosing the "file" emunand.

Like I said, some people are extra paranoid and go the extra mile by not even having an SD card with homebrew or backups on it while using the console legitimately. There is absolutely no evidence that Nintendo tracks users through their SD cards and if they did, there is the possibility of privacy violations or false positives. At the same time, there is not necessarily any drawback towards using different SD cards but it requires more management on the user's part for an extra theoretical benefit. You can use multiple SD cards if you want to but I personally don't see any advantage.

Got it, thanks for clarifying, now I can my hack my Switch without having to worry about messing something up :)

Hi,

I am trying to use GUIFormat to format my SD to FAT32. I was going to use a 512gb sd card.

I have read in other threads that I should set allocation unit size to 32.

However, GUIFormat only gives me the allocation unit sizes of
512
1024
2048
and upwards.

What allocation size should I pick? Is the 512gB card size too big?
And also, what do I put for volume label?

You should use 32. Everything different can cause problems. I used h2format to format my micro sd to FAT32. 512GB is not too big.

An allocation size of 32 is not a selectable option. The lowest allocation size to choose from is 512. I am using 512gb sd card.

I am using GUIformat which everybody seems to recommend on this thread.

Should I be using another program?

So i haven’t touched my switch for months now. I think im at 6.0 fw right now and i am using sx os and I have some questions regarding updating, emunand.

1. Any banwaves for using sx os emunand?
2. is it possible to use updated sysnand to play online while still having emunand for nsp's and xci's?
3.What would be the steps to set everything up?

I know there is no 100% guarantee that I can get banned.

Im an idiot. Allocation size 32k = the 32768 option.

1) No.
2) Yes. Clean SysNAND for online and EmuNAND for offline CFW.
3) Restore clean SysNAND, if it’s not clean rn. Update SysNAND with official system update. Delete internet connection before creating EmuNAND. Create EmuNAND (1:1 copy of SysNAND). Now you can use your SysNAND for online purpose and your EmuNAND for offline CFW.

Hello
'SX OS'
I thought that the album title in the menu would show up all the XCI files.. and it does that but.
I thought I read that the INSTALLER title would show up all the NSP files that are on your SD card. But when selecting INSTALLER in the title menu.. it shows all the files NSP and XCI files. I had hoped that I would only see the NSP (eshop) files.
I did put them in seperate folders SXOS/CCI and SXOS/NSP

Did I do something wrong;;;or did I misread the use for these 2 menu titels?

No, that's totally fine. Same for me. I think that's because you could also install XCI files.

Thanks for your effort!
What if Nintendo releases an update? Do i need to create a new emunand or do I update both nands?

Hello, yesterday I installed some nsp files on my switch via goldtree. Everything went smoothly but I put after the console on sleep I did a dumb thing and unplugged the switch which was still connected to the PC. Now the console won't turn on, I tried to longpress the power button but got nothing. If anyone got any idea if I fried something inside or if it happened to anyone, I don't know if I should buy a new one or try to repair it.
