CDI is basically smaller file size while GDI is the standard dreamcast file size (1.2gb)

as for what runs better, i definitely say gdi but if you want a perfect version of the game while having a smaller compact file size than the standard 1.2gb ones than CDI is the much better solution, just be on the look out for most games done by scene group ReviveDC

Crazy Taxi cdi is 700 megs, chd is 70. gdis can be turned into cdhs, cdis cannot.

Why everyone should use nro2nsp forwarders:

1. have a nice icon of your choosing for your game directly on the switch menu
2. it already gives you the extra ram that you would otherwise have to hold R on a switch game to get every time you want to play a game

That maybe only two reasons, but two good reasons.

On ReiNX I'm not sure how to load the HBmenu the way you're talking about (Loading a switch game while holding R). I've looked it up on ReiNX's website too. I'm on 8.0.0. Any help?

I have a cdi and not really having sound stuttering, but I think the movies are still being skipped. I haven't seen anyone say anything about changing settings to fix a game yet. You'll probably have to wait for a more stable build.

Settings, Video, check Widescreen for Fullscreen.

These have some glitches, here and there, but are playable and have such a sharp picture!

Giga Wing 2
HOTD 2
Cannon Spike {all the way left on character screen for Mega Man, far right for BB Hood}

Cannon Spike is my new 'hidden gem' and I don't even like top-down games. Capcom should bring that back!

Thank you! I wasn't even thinking of trying this since it seemed to only work with RetroArch forwarded games, but it sure does!

Dramatic Battle is exactly why I play Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max. Didn't know there was that mode outside of the PSP version of SFA3.

Wait. I just tried it. I think I played that on the PS2 or something. PSP version is still superior because it has more character options and you can pick both that you want on your team.

No WinCE.

"Notice that games using MMU won't work, that's WinCE games (I guess this list is reasonable:https://segaretro.org/Windows_CE)."

Huh. I'm pretty sure the reason the DC version of SFA3 didn't work on nullDC (yeah, I know, it's outdated) was that it was a Windows CE game or that it relied on some part of it...

I tested Sonic Adventures: it crashes (Atmosphere error then reboot) everytime I select "Adventure" just after memory card file creation. Any idea?
Thank you for your help!

Neither, hold R and start a Switch game. Instead of starting the Switch game it will take you to the homebrew menu. From there select Reicast.
Thank! This worked like a charm and reicast never crashed again

Cannon spike and Power Stone plays perfectly

Dynamite Cop is good is a bit sluggish.

Gonna try more DC games now

Are cheats planned in a later version? Would love to use the 60 fps cheats on Sonic Adventure to make it run 60 instead of 30. (I am way too spoiled because of BetterSADX on PC lol)

Pretty sure the firmware doesn't matter. I've never used ReinX so I may be ignorant here but does ReinX allow you to hold R on a game to get the extra ram? If not you'll have to switch to Atmosphere.

Hey there! Update: all my testing was on fw v7, so no idea about other FWs or version.
Also got around exception handling in switch today, seems to be working now. I will add support for it in the next days or so. This should fix texture quirks right away (it's an easy fix). Then I'll add support for faster memory ops, which should bump perf some more (no idea how much, perhaps 20-30%? That's a totally nothing-in-my-sleeve number since I don't know what the bottlenecks in switch are xD). There's more planned optimizations coming to reicast soon, which will improve performance in PC and Android.
Expect a release in a couple days and a more mature one in a couple weeks. Enjoy in the meantime!

So, how demanding is this version of the emulator atm? I know at stock clocks, the Switch struggles like Hell with N64, so how far does one have to push the Switch for Reicast to be playable?

The games I'm primarily interested in are the games that aren't already getting a port of some kind, and have a low chance of re-release on any platform, especially the Switch (think Cannon Spike, Capcom Vs. SNK 2, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Power Stone 1 and 2, and KOFXI and FOTNS if Atomiswave/NAOMI is supported rn). Guilty Gear X2 is getting a port to the Switch in a few days (that isn't on the US eShop as Coming Soon for some reason), so I'm not too concerned about that game.

Will this be integrated with RetroArch, or does this have 16:9 support built-in? I know Yaba Sanshiro's standalone version on the ODroid XU4's ThERA 3.0 image doesn't have the latter feature. Just curious.

To anybody playing Sonic Adventure and getting stuck at the Light Speed Dash part in the sewers, you can just use those machines to spindash up to the hole. I think its an error with reicast where it doesnt spawn a ring and the line gets interrupted.

Limit FPS cause game play to either running too fast or too slow. Seem like issue was brought forward from Android version.

Here's a bunch of games I've tried. You might notice I'm mostly only interested in exclusives that's why there's no Sonic Adventures, Jet Set Radio etc....

Working games I've tried:
D2
Ooga Booga
Illbleed
Fighting Vipers 2
Project Justice
Carrier
Capcom vs SNK Millennium Collection
WWF Royal Rumble
Virtua Fighter 3TB
Suzuki Alstare Extreme Racing
Surf Rocket Racers
Spawn In The Demon's Hand
Shenmue
Draconus Cult of the Wyrm
Daytona USA 2001
Zombie Revenge
Sword of the Berserk
Rippin Riders Snowboarding
Plasma Sword
Cosmic Smash
ChuChu Rocket!
Blue Stinger
Cannon Spike

Not working or problems:
Fire Pro Wrestling D (graphical glitches)
4 Wheel Thunder (not working)
Omikron The Nomad Soul (not working)

Hey man how'd you get ooga booga working? Mine just freezes on the info splash screen right after the Dreamcast logo

Forgot to mention that, I had the same issue with the cdi. Search for the gdi it works. You'll have to put it in a folder because it has additional tracks and add the folder's path to Reicast for it to see it.

Just as a fair warning, dont play Shenmue on this yet, there are wrong textures all over the place, on faces, dialog seletors, even on sky textures at night.

This does ruin the mode of the game, so stand off of it for a while until this is fixed. :)
