As the title, recently i bought an already modded ps2 slim (75004) for cheap, and considering the image on my tv was really trash, i bought a component cable (y cb/pb cr/pr) to make the image a bit better.
Here the problem, connecting the console with the component cable i can only get a black (or no signal) image. The audio works. This ps2 mount a "prodigy 3 a 1" maybe 3.1? mod chip, and reading around the web maybe the problem can be the "rgb fix". I can't find any documentation about this modchip, and doesn't seems to have a menu (like the infinity matrix) where you can disable that, even if, i tryed the same cable on a ps2 slim 70004 with infinity mod and with the rgb fix on the component cable works fine.

Anyone know if the problem depend from that fix, and if yes, i can remove this "rgb fix" who apparently is just to watch dvd with fixed colors, and i don't care?
If necessary i can disassembly the console to lock at alls the pinouts. (Even if i already tryed to open up to clean the fan, and i've seen a lot of tape used under the shield below)

Unlike some setup I saw on reddit with the same problem (with 2 wires going directly to the configuration input of the video output chip) I don't see anything like that on your console... (and it doesn't help there are no schematics circulating for 75000 and newer)

If you still want a chip you could buy a Modbo on ebay (3 dollars and 35 days from china, of course), at least the hard part (most/all wires to the motherboard) is already finished

I will take it in consideration, but the problem is i never "welded" (is that the word? saldare :D) so many and small cambles in my life lol. There is the potential to make remain without mod. All the pin are 1:1? Also if the 2 chip are different? Example i desolder A from prodigy and weld it on A on modbo, that's it?

Dumb question, you did go into the menu on the system and set it to ypbpr instead of rgb, right? Just changing the cable won't change it to component. You may have to put the composite cables back in so you can see while you change the setting. Sorry if this is obvious and of course you already did it, but I hate to see you rip your hair out over your modchip when it might be something simpler at fault. Good luck in any event.

Yeah, that's the first thing i done. The option in the bios do actually nothing, like if you change nothing. On the other ps2 slim, with the infinity modchip, it works fine, infact the cable there works, even if you don't change that option in the bios, and play games in 480p (tekken for example), the game works in color. In any other games instead, if you just plug that component cable without changin the option in the bios, you're going to get a black and white image.
On the prodigy chip, nothing is displayed, just the audio. It's something in the chip who override the output and force the rgb.

Should have just bought one with no chip and used Free MC Boot. Is it possible to deactivate the chip, or just entirely remove it?

Well, i can desolder it by myself, it's not a problem do that. I've orded a 64mb chinese card for install freemcboot, but the modchip to run burned cd is always useful to have. But one thing remain, with the original RGB cable the image is trash, especially the text on somegames are almost illegible.
Anyway, no, this modchip have no internal menu to disable it. And worst case scenario, if i have to remove the modchip, i can just try to solder a modbo (if the pin's are the same) i just have to A-A B-B ecc ecc
