Gambia, The
and the other Vice Cores ;) WiiU 4 life :yayu:
That is true. However, RA doesn't handle C64 very well. With savestates and per-game-configs, the good old C64 could almost work like a video game console.
Probably its too old. ..or am I?
I, for instance, don't really care about 3D console like N64. And I am really surprised about the demand for N64 emulation. I always recognized the N64 as the failed console of that generation.
Anyways, I am happy for the ones who got it now ;)

define "very well".
Load a game and play it. Like NES or SNES games. Like the PC version of VICE. Including savestates.

Maybe home computers are not really suitable for RA. The UAE version for switch is doing very well. I can't see how that would work in RA.
On the other hand, C64 is quite low-maintenace...

I still don't get what your issue is.

So is PPSSPP happening but we just have to wait?

Also I was wondering about DOSBOX I tried System Shock 1 and 2 and they launch the "welcome to launchbox" screen but I can't figure out how to get the games started or how to type in what it asks for. Are these games just not supposed to work or?

I think PPSSPP can happen

IIRC there were 2 Vice 64 cores one that uses SDL and one that doesn't, the one that used SDL ended up being the better Core on WiiU.

Playing C64 games on the switch.

There is no working onscreen keyboard, so many games can't even be started (e.g. pressing space to skip the intro, etc.)
There was a workaround once posted here to get the onscreen keyboard. That involved changed gamepad drivers. If you fiddle with the gamepad drivers, sometimes you can get the onscreen keyboard to show. How to reproduce that? Unknown.
But that doesn't matter at all, because its not possible to move the cursor and press a button. Touch screen doesn't work either.

Bummer.

And even if it would be fixed, there are no savestates.

So basically, that is the problem.
I am looking at Giana Sisters right now. After changing the gamepad driver back and forth, I magically got the onscreen keyboard on button "Y". Now I have to press "H" for Highscore or "T" for trainer version, but that is not possible, because there is no (obvious) way to make an input on the onscreen keyboard.

You can setup the keyboard etc and select keys on the virtual keyboard, bit kludgy but it works.
Doing so requires some alchemy (there are threads some place how to do this) but once done your good.
At least the old builds used to work, not tried later vice cores, so maybe something regressed.
Savestates are sorely missed though.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in

    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.
  • Veho @ Veho:
There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
