Hey folks, I recently dug up my old Rock Band instruments (including the pro guitar and keys!) after I realized I could play them on my Wii U's vWii. It's great but I'm pretty quickly tiring of the base songs and was surprised to find that the DLC shop was down completely. Is there any way to get the DLC at this point? I'm not sure where my old Wii is with the DLC i bought on there, but it's a bummer that I can't just log into an account and get my old stuff back. :( I feel like my best option is to uh... buy an xbox 360 and track down all the instruments again :/

Save your money on that Xbox, if you haven't got it yet! I posted a blog entry which might help you: https://gbatemp.net/entry/rock-band-3-for-wii-custom-songs-gitlab-repo-links.15692/

Note that this is only for Rock Band 3. If you need hacks for Rock Band 2, I don't have anything, but you can find all kinds of stuff on the net about it. Searching for stuff like RawkSD may be your best bet. For other Rock Band titles, I have no idea.

Rock band entire dlc collection exists out there (dumped by certain preservation groups)

So if you got a hacked wii (or vwii), all you need to do is track them down, download and install them.

But yes, I assure you. It exists. I know that for a fact

This is news to me. I've never found it myself. Besides, I thought the DLC had to be compatible with your specific console before it can work.

Yep, it’s out there with some preservation groups. I am not sure what specific information was required in game to purchase an install the dlc, but when dumped, you can install them just like any other wad.

Guitar hero dlcs is also all out for those who care, and are even included in the wii (digital) dat over at datomatic.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

i didn’t knew there was dlcs for wii
Rock band was one of the very few (not sure of the exact number).

I heard it was mostly a Japanese thing, but I am not sure how true this info is, so don’t quote me on it.

This list is incomplete, as it only shows WiiWare titles, but here's a link to some Wii games that have DLC.

I've come across DLC collections for some of those games before. I don't think the games do any checking for if you actually own the DLC, they just load what they find.

As far as I know, any backup WADs of rock band dlc simply registered the dlc bits as "purchased" and you still had to download the actual songs and data from the servers, which have been permanently shut down now.

I prefer RB to GH so I hadn't considered those for dlc but I'll check that out as well.

I'll check into customs but I think I'd prefer the official charts. Do customs have lower difficulty levels and support for the pro controller modes/harmonies?

That actually depends on where you get it. Custom Creators has a sortable list you can look through and download the one you want: http://customscreators.com/index.php?/page/index.html

I also posted a tutorial so people don't have to leave GBATemp, however it's already becoming outdated. https://gbatemp.net/threads/a-guide-to-creating-rock-band-3-custom-songs.534832/

This isn’t the case, or else the wads would’ve been mere kilobytes. The wads are huge

Hmm, maybe it needs to go online and check then? Or maybe I'm thinking of RB2. I'd be thrilled to be wrong on this, lol.

Thanks for the advice everyone. lots of good info and solid leads on where to go next I'll try and keep the thread posted on what works for me if that's cool.

Nope, not even RB2. The wads are 5GB each. I'm not sure what method *used to* exist, but the ones that are now released for preservation are a direct dump from wii shop. The one thing I can say is that I have not tested them, but I trust those who released it for scene preservation did.

Maybe @HarvHouHacker could confirm, if he had a chance to try them out. :)

Unfortunately, Rock Band 2 freezes my console now every time I try to start it. I don't know if it has something to do with my attempts at hacking RB3, but as of right now I can't confirm. If I am able to make it work, I might give it a try.

After installing the wads?
