this emulator is working great, and i love the style of it ,especially when picking games from fba its great to see pictures.

just an issue i have which is worrying me is that the emulator crashes the switch when i try to reopen it, it works great the first time, but after that if you leave it and come back it crashes the switch.

thanks for your work and hoping for these stuff to get fixed as the time goes by, its a great time to be a switch owner! :)

Thank you cpasjuste

It is wonderful to see a new release, I cant wait to try it out!

Could you tell us how to use the skin "config" file? I would love to try changing different colours for the skins etc or logo's

Yeah, I need to write something about it, probably next week. It's still basic but could be fun, still. For now take a look at "/switch/pfba/skin/config.cfg". I need to release a Linux and Windows version of the emulator, it will be easier for you to modify/test your skin's changes .

cpasjuste I have been testing the Pfba 3.0

I noticed the "CPS1" and "CPS2" games seem to have dropped in frames now, not running fullspeed as they were in 2.1.
The settings I use are no filters applied, running 4.3, also "Knights of the round" cps1 still not booting.

Also the "sega 16" games "Golden Axe" some of the "sound fx" are now lower pitched eg when the "enemies death sound"

If I find anymore info I'll post it here

cpasjuste thank you once again for all the great work you do.

Hi and first thanks for all the good work.
I have 2 questions wich i cant google my way out of and i read most of this thread.
I have downloaded the last version fba 1.57 from VHBB and i am using the 0.2.97.43 rom pack.
I am on Vita.

All games are in green and work but the audio sounds choppy as in almost overdriven like there is too much sound being pushed out. The game red earth is also very slow but i recall reading somewhere that is a demanding title.

Secondly i cannot seem to get to the default roms options or the individual rom options like in thre attached picture. A lot of my options just say "go" and i cant change them.

Any ideas any one how to solve this, or maybe the right google terms so i can find answers ?
are you talking about ps vita? in case you are lost this is the Nintendo switch forum

I've been testing "Megadrive" games that I previously mentioned in thread which looked abit blocky, but with 3.0 release they are now fixed and look perfect! :)

In regards to the "Arcade games", we've taken abit of a performance hit.

I have been testing in hand held mode, some games I notice are now abit stuttery, its strange as I activated the fps counter and the frames don't seem to drop.

A game I have been testing is rom "Final Fight (World, Set1)" which you can see looks abit stuttery, but its fps dosent move past 60/59

This could be something else that is causing a conflict somwhere? if anyone has a chance to look for yourself, maybe something in the options that needs to be enabled or disabled?

Edit:

I also noticed the Neogeo games all seem to be in AES mode, meaning that it only gives you 4 credits etc,

Hi @Winklepicker. I just tested "Final Fight (World, Set1)" and didn't notice some stuttery, but i didn't test previous versions so i can't really compare. What i know is what i have changed since latest release:

- I have added a "FORCE_60HZ" option in the rom options, which is now disabled by default. On past versions, it was forced to enabled which was causing some roms (like ffight) to run at 60 hz/fps instead native hz/fps (which is 59.630001 for ffight). We now have a more accurate emulation, but maybe it does impact the feeling you have with it. You can try enabling this option to see what happen (it will force 60 hz/fps).
- I also added a "FORCE_AUDIO_SYNC" option which is enabled by default now. This also improve the emulation accuracy as all is synchronized to the rom frequency/fps. You can also disable this option to see what happen (audio can then have a few frames of desynchronization, but should not be noticable).
- Finally, latest fba code did also made some changes on neogeo/cps accuracy, which may change the feeling we have.

To resume, i think this stuttery effect "may be" caused by a more accuracy emulation, but so many changes in devkitA64/libnx/fba/pfba have been done that i may be wrong.. In any case, i'm waiting for your reports about your testing!

Hi cpasjuste, thanks for letting me know, I have done some further testing. I set all the options off by default, and then started to enable each one to see if I could notice a difference. I wasn't sure what "Audio Interpolation" and "Audio Fm Interpolation" actually do? so I left them off.

When "FORCE_AUDIO_SYNC" is enabled by itself, then it will cause the game stuttering, very noticeable in CPS1, CPS2 and Neogeo. But if both "FORCE_60HZ" and "FORCE_AUDIO_SYNC" is enabled at the same time, it is fine and smooth.

I also tried a "Data East" game to test, so I loaded "Robocop 2" (because the rom loads instantly) and its the same deal.
Both "force 60hz" and "force audio sync" must be enabled to get it to play smoothly however the music is strange and it keeps repeating itself when I played first level. So maybe those two options cause some strange audio sync effects in some games, I'm not sure but if I notice anymore with those symptoms I will let you know and post them here.

I'm thinking that "force 60hz" must be enabled for all for all games to run smooth, I just tested "Rolling Thunder" and "Kung Fu master" and noticed the same stuttery effect. But with "force 60hz" mode and also "force audio sync" made them smooth. I tried "Knights of the round" cps1 aswell, and it still refused to load. My rom is knights.zip, but if anyone can let me know if your version works.
