Just taking a break over here. Also have been doing 9h shifts for the past 3 weeks.

Absolutely not criticism! I really appreciate all your work!

I’m just wondering about the nightlies. I’ll stick with the earlier version.

Just to emphasise to people, recent optimisations mean that using framebuffer emulation in most games should still run full speed. This fixes a huge amount of games such as Banjo Tooie, Conker, Perfect Dark among others.

However, you MUST disable ‘Color buffer writes to DRAM’ and ‘Depth buffer writes to DRAM’. These kill performance for neglible returns.

Also disable Crop Mode to stop it cropping the screen when framebuffer emulation is active.

EDIT - Fixed amusing typo and added more info.

This makes Banjo Tooie run quite nicely!

So I have an issue with Goldeneye, in multiplayer the bottom screen can't be seen... What is the cause for that?

Does the last version of hekate include the SVC patches?

I’d like to update to 7.0.1, but also have Retroarch with all the improvements for N64. Is this possible or should I stay on 6.2.0?

Thank you for the answers!

What would be the best retroarch version for N64? The last nightly or the official version that was released?

i'm absolutely loving this core and all it plays... so i'm trying to play goldeneye and perfect dark with 2 controllers to utilize both sticks as opposed to emulating c-buttons with the right stick. any suggestions as to how to get the mapping right?

i assume i'd have to set retroarch to single joycons and mess with mapping, but if there's a way i can have mounted joycons set to player 1 joystick (L) and player 2 joystick (R), that would be preferred.

Am I doing something wrong?
Using latest Hekate 4.8 and Atmosphere 0.84, Mupen 64 Plus with the SVC (downloaded from the link below) and NRO fowarder.
Mario 64 is still laggy, running at stock clock and 540p. I didn't change any configurations. Am I dumb or something? lmao
Thanks

Check the configuration on page 26. Try to apply that configuration.

Thanks for the great work on this dynarec!
Quick question on a couple of games that are running very dark.
Nightmare Creatures: Front menu is visible but background game is too dark and impossible to play, I tried to modify the options but none improve the brightness. Changing the brightness on TV or console doesn't make any difference either.
Doom64: very dark but not as bad as above, same story with options change or TV brightness.
Could someone try those games and report if same problem occur?
Any other settings I should be checking?

Thanks for the help.

Just had something odd happen with Conker's Bad Fur Day, but it looks like it went away. When I could take control of Conker, the camera would rotate to the left for about 2 seconds, then reset itself forward and run that sequence over and over. Tilting left on the R-Stick (Left-C) would make it go slower, while to the right (Right-C) would make it go faster. Regardless of the speed it rotated at, it would always reset every 2 seconds. It has since gone away after numerous closing/loading of the game and loading other games, so I have no idea how to replicate it, nor if what I did ultimately fixed it or if it was just by coincidence.

Latest everything, in case one were to ask - Atmosphere, RetroArch nightly, Mupen64Plus-Next svc, etc. (loading via title replacement to homebrew menu)

Settings for the core are as shown on pg 26 with the exceptions....

Framebuffer Emulation = True
Color buffer to RDRAM = Off
Depth buffer to RDRAM = Off
Crop Mode = Off

This settings do cause Conker's full-screen framebuffer effects to undergo an oddity with vertical bars of the frame buffer, but setting Depth buffer to RDRAM to something other than Off fixes it.

Does the latest RetroArch nightly core use SVC patches? As I understand it, you need to use the one m4xw linked to in his twitter feed a couple of weeks ago. I think he hasn’t been updating the RA nightly core because he’s been doing other projects.
