The person who has it (if he really even does) Mathieu is considered to be the toxic one by many, and even if he does have a newer hack it doesn't mean there's not other people out there that can't come up with a newer hack. You know you don't have everything you need with 5.05 because you can't play newer games or games that haven't come out with yet. Unless you never plan to get another game on PS4 past March 2018 or have a second PS4 you don't have all the games that are out or are coming out.

Point is you're buying into what one guy says about the entire scene being toxic when it's just not true, and that one guy will not stop the scene from continuing eventually.

Oh there is alot of toxicity in this scene without a doubt and i am not "buying" into anyone this is my personal opinion on human nature.
You seem to be jumping over the simple fact that if someone had an exploit and you talk shit to them that will only cause them not to give it to you and thats what a mean by toxicity slowing things down.
Think about it if someone talked to you like crap you wouldnt help them with anything and thats just how people are.

i do have everything i need with 5.05 because my goal with it is not piracy of newer games, that may be your thing but it is not mine.
What i mean by 5.05 gives us everything we need is the open door to run code or homebrew etc and i do enjoy poking around the console and learning new things about it.

Playing new games is simple and thats called buy the game and play it on a console that is updated to run it.
I have spent the last week playing rdr2 so i am not missing anything and i have to say i dont play many ps4 games but rdr2 is pretty neat and well worth the money imo.

stooged: here's the deal. spectre has been missing in action since last spring along with the veterans leading the project. life goes on ya know. so basically we have these youngsters. they are wrapped up focusing on their ring of hipsters thinking they are hotshots with the vita. which is great, i guess. the system was a commercial failure, but they have their ring of people thinking they are saving the world.

qwerty also being young is having the time of his life playing flag football or something at the german conference displayed lack of interest in this system in past tweets. the motivation for them isn't there because their leaders and mentors pretty much gave up. so we're left with these young guys i dunno if they are trying to take charge or just talk shit. they just have nothing to offer in terms of any workflow to work towards something to release. the kid your going on with is also green. vultra acting bigshot on his twitter. as far as i read he did some testing on webkit. there's nothing to debate because there's no curtain with treasure behind it.

the won't release anything until homebrew is advanced is also a scapegoat to delay people's questions. i applaud KiiWii's attempt at getting the ball rolling with organizing Retrorch being ported. But even the german speaker that was hyped last weekend abandoned his own NES emulator. There just simply is no project management going on to further ps4.

point being. the anti-piracy nonsense, or toxic people on one or two forums does not even consider this is a global interest. Russian, Spanish, Arabic, or Chinese communities all excluded and ignored when they mirror the exact same thoughts people voicing on these two forums.

I never said i dont or wouldnt pirate new games those are your words.
I said you can play any new game on a updated console and thats what i do.

Personally i dont really care for ps4 games i enjoy screwing around with the console and i would spend more time doing that than playing a game.

Yes things change and people move on thats just the slice of life with all of us.
The toxicity is not on just one or two forums it is on those guys twitter/social media pages too and with some of the comments i have seen i dont blame them for moving onto other things.

As for piracy...
The main hidden agenda to these exploits is ultimately piracy.
if it wasnt then the effort wouldnt have been spent to develop the fpkg and hen.

I myself have no issues with piracy i just think it would be silly to burn an exploit on say 6.20 if that exploit will still work on 6.50 because if you did burn it on 6.20 an update will happen, new games will be released and we will be right back here again with the same people bitching about not being able to play that new game.

Stooged: Sorry for that novel there. A bit too much to drink tonight. But thats the gist. I have been involved on many community projects in the past like Emumovies and Hyperspin. And back then it was community goals. People coming together. That's been the attitude for many projects. The world wouldn't have an outstanding MAME dump or projects like Retroarch if people didn't come together with a common goal.

My generation has always been about preservation. Ya got the No Intro index sets etc. Or even lately there is a revamped project from 80's UK called The Domesday Project. Recently their common goal is to archive the world's laserdiscs collection frame by frame, with that same process for MAME's laserdiscs to be processed by 2020. It's that sort of attitude.

This young generation doesn't get it. It's taking the ball home and say screw everyone else. Now I realize PS4 is unique, and very difficult. As team failoverflow's presentation in 2015-6 detailed in their presentation how backwards and chaotic Sony did their system just to troll hackers. I get that. But I still go back to twitter trolls are the worse. They mostly have ego to flaunt with no material to back it up.

The problem is : why you tell or try to tell us a revolutionary message to the people who are hype/hope to get something new and at the finally give us shit ? I mean we have now software like Discord TeamSpeak etc.. Here you can speak in private about your project, your progression etc.. After that if all are ready just put the release. We don't need message like : wait the x date you will be happy or great announce soon. No ! we need concret not that kind of message. For exemple In the past, when magic swap release, not enough people knew this kind of method. Same for first linker but this what really concret without announcement.. Some people are looking into 6.xx kex.

No one claimed to be actively working on anything above 5.05 for public consumption.

This “Method” was always billed as a trick that’s bannable, patchable and requires PSN.

Morph talk also wasn’t billed as full exploit.

People don’t read, get hyped, get it wrong, feel let down, most wont/don’t try do anything about it themselves (like learn a programming language and learn reversing), they moan about it, and the cycle continues..

If more people researched exploits and got into that field for fun, we would see more progress, but they just want spoon fed piracy.

That's called a phantom account and it's been around for years. But who wants to never go online again on their PS4? and you're stuck with the games that are on that account so where are you going to get all the games you want on one account?

I just want to say, that some of you like kiiwi and brenly made pretty accurate statements and basically laid out what I assessed from the past few days of the ps3 scene as a whole. While it's not dead, its certainly moving forward... maybe at a snail's pace, but it is moving. I said it before, there will be a day when SOMEONE finds the keys to molest the ps4 as we have almost all of the entire ps family (excluding ps1) and when that day comes, there wont be a need for "stay on so and so few and buy a new console". So, I can deal with that. What I would enjoy how ever would be better documentation on progress and less "wr maybe possibly may have something kinda cool but not really because were trying to look important because we have sensitivity issues". That doesn't do much besides push off people. And when I said "this is becoming toxic" I said this thread... not the scene as a whole. I made that clear when I said I didn't know what is going on. So, if you are working on something... good luck and keep us in the know. Push through and earn yourself respect. If you haven figured out programming, don't be upset and complain like a child because you cant pirate... learn or wait. I just wanted to know when I could update my games from .
1.00 versions using homebrew, which doesn't quite seem possible for the time being so... shit happens cuz.

Believe it or not there are people on 5.05 who are/were considering updating to use this “method”... there are really very few killer (games) reasons to upgrade.

5.05 is progressing fantastically for homebrew now with Retroarch builds starting to appear and OpenGL ES/PERF starting up.

It’s just filthy pirates who want to update for this method.

@KiiWii not entirely true. I own a 5.05 and would love to play detroit be human and sc6 for my ps4 pro (i bought them as i do all my games and crossing fingers that i may be able to play them sometime in the future) and it would be pretty sweet to do so. However i can understand why some of these folks are hesitant. lots of negative downsides and very few upsides if anyone were to release something :S.
Also owning a ps4 just for homebrew and one to update and play games is an expensive proposition.(although i have the old school mentality that if your console is modded in any way it should be kept offline)
However, i digress and get back to hoping something neat comes about in the future.

Edit: I apologize i misread your line and actually yes i agree, wanting to update just to do game sharing piracy is ridiculous. my apologies again.

There is cheaper ways to use retroarch then using it on PS4, also more stable and performs better.
There is retroarch on almost every console.

The only thing i think that matter in hacking the PS4 s to inject PS2 games and save editing and backup for save games (without PSN i don't think you can backup your save to USB, right?)


and about new games, there is RE2 remake and KH3 and dmc5 and many many more exclusive games (not all people have capable PC to play non exclusive games).

I have Retroarch on serveral devices already but PS4 is a powerhouse. It’s very exciting times!

I don’t have a pc to play games, and I don’t have a second PS4, but I daily witness beggars banging on for “5.55 hax” just to play games... it’s tiring.

The scene is not about playing the latest games right now.

It’s about growing homebrew, and the progress they’re making behind the scenes with Mira plug-ins and system tools alone is astounding.

Every generation has a golden firmware, and 5.05 is that for PS4.

If it’s no good, it’s simple: don’t be a part of it and the best advice I can give for people (anyone) who doesn’t like it is to sell your console and buy a pc, or buy the legit games on latest OFW and enjoy them.
