Wondering, is it possible to hack the newest Switches yet? I see some pretty cheap ones on eBay but they all say "brand new"
i remember a GBATemp article saying one was to be expected, but I am unsure as my memory hazes

I know ReiNX implemented this as a feature. With Hekate, it may be a sign of the Auto HOS Power Off if you see the Hekate logo before the console turns off.
Apparently 2.3 has problems loading the homebrew menu. Someone in ReSwitched suggest using SDFiles Version 10.1 (they were called SDFiles before they were renamed to Kosmos). Another alternative is to update your firmware without burning fuses which you can with ChoiDujour.
I always turn of the console with hekate menu TURN OF OPTION just to be sure its off and not on RCM MODE.So you saying this is normal

Not to sure why my switch went to autorcm after battery was low, but does atmosphere put switch to rcm automatically when battery is running low, or am I going into autorcm ever since I updated using choidujour even though I did use briickmii to turn that off.

Not yet, no. See the pinned post for exploitable serial numbers

Well you didn't tell me if you see the Hekate logo or not when you send Hekate as a payload.

Check to see if AutoRCM is still enabled with either Hekate or briccmii.

Strangely, you're not the first with this unit. But since we've never heard about XFL units up until yesterday, we don't know. Although given they are most likely a recent appearance, they are probably patched.

There is a high possibility it is patched but testing if its vulnerable or not doesn't take long and who knows, it may turn out to be unpatched.

That's well above the XAW1007_______ range, so it shouldn't be hackable. Have you tried putting it into RCM mode and pushing biskeydump? If that doesn't work, you're SOL and should return it for a different unit. Make sure to check the serial #s sticky and the box before you buy. :)

ok i will give that a go and get back to you
was i right in my understanding the new exploit wont be of help for me?
that seems to be a contested topic on reddit right now

Once the latest SXOS is out of Beta, does that mean I will be able to play Smash Bros Ultimate and update my games? Sorry if this is obvious guys
They've released several betas after they started releasing them. If they're anything like Gateway, which they are except in name, then we won't see a new stable release ever again or for a very long time.

If the firmware is 4.1 or below, you'll be able to load some homebrew which is about the extent of broswerhax.

Does my firmware version matter when backing up keys?

My Xmas Switch is on 4.1.0 and I'm backing up keys now after only setting it up, didn't set up internet or anything.

Should I update and then backup again?

Ah,I see. Will these Beta releases let me play the latest games on the latest firmware then dude?

The higher your firmware, the more masterkeys you will dump. This is the only key that changes with firmwares. The importance of masterkeys are that they are usually tied to the firmware requirements of games and thus newer games use masterkeys found on higher firmwares. Alternatively, you can just Google the missing masterkeys since every other key is just going to stay the same no matter your firmware.

Yes.

Hi. fogive me if I'm a bit lost here as there is a lot of conflictin and missing info as of late. first, I have an older switch (aka has the older exploitable chip) and 4.1. I just got katamari and smash bros for christmas but I don't know what firmware is required. my question is is it ok to update? all I want out of hacks is smash moding (and maybe backup loaders). if it is not ok, what do I do to play? do I backup and Hack in the update? I don't understand the fuse thing at all (burning fuses sounds permanent....)

second question: concerning bans, what does that actually do? I know no online allowed (no anyway because screw paying to play online). however, I may still want game updates. eshop would be nice too but I assume no hope for that once banned, but screw it, I can pirate dlc if Nintendo is going to be that way.

ok so using TegraRcmGUI get to rcm detected send biskeydump.bin to the switch and
TegraRcmGUI says success but nothing on the switch
i assume thats enough to confirmed it cant be hacked ?

my switch came with firmware 5.10 so dejavu wont be helpful for me i guess
guess i will attempt a return sucks

Don't know the firmware requirement for Katamari but Smash needs at least 5.1. But with CFW you can update without burning fuses. Fuses are designed to prevent downgrades. The console does this by checking the fuse count with the firmware. If the fuses are lower than the firmware, it will burn fuses until it matches the expected number of fuses for that firmware. If the fuses are higher than the firmware, the console will refuse to boot. The whole purpose of downgrading is to keep the possibility open of using an exploit on lower firmwares such as the warmboot Deja Vu or the coveted but theoretical untethered coldboot exploit. If you don't care about fuses and subsequently other potential exploits, then you can just update normally and irreversibly burn fuses. But if you do care about fuses, you should use one of the CFW available to load the homebrew application ChoiDujourNX to update your firmware without burning fuses.

As for bans, there are 2 different types of bans but both types block eShop access, online play, and game updates.
