What are the chances of getting banned if you only install homebrew launcher to use cfw and layered fs for game mods? No piracy

Lets say I have a XCI file larger then 4gb and got a fat32 formatted micro sd card.
I want to install this XCI file with ZeroTwoXCI but since it is larger then 4gb it won't fit on my fat32 micro sd card.

Is there another way around to install this XCI file???

Just a quick question, do games need specific Firmwares to work? I was 4.0.1, updated to 5.0.1 with ChoiDujourNx to use exFat. I want to play the likes of Pokemon Lets go but am unsure if I need to update again?

Hello to all!

I bought Nintendo Switch which i un-patched. It is on OFW 4.1.

My friend bought the same console from the same shop 2 months ago. He said that if I get this unpatched version I am always on the safe side because nintendo cannot patch it unless console is returned to factory. Back then, He gave me instructions to update the console to the latest version via OTA update and then just follow the simple metod to boot into CFW via SX PRO dongle.

Today I got SX Dongle with licence. I wanted to confirm that the above method is still working. But now friend told me that I am too late because the 6.2 firmware patched all the consoles and I cannot update console to previos version 6.1 without burning some fuses. He also told me my 4.1 FW will not recognize SD 128GB and needs update. And if I download the exFAT update I will also update Switch to 6.2.

Do i need to make NAND backup and why? Switch asked me to backup joycons and did not recognize SD card - probably exFAT update or something? What are fuses and do i need to backup them so they dont get burned? I really dont understand this one.

Can someone please tell me step by step procedure on what to do now?

Thank you in advance!

You have several options.

1. Format your SD to FAT32, no updating required. Of course this limits the size of the files you can use to 4GB.

2. You can add exFAT support to pretty much any FW without updating the console. https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-...tch-console-on-any-ofw-without-update.505182/

3. Wait for Xecuter to support 6.2, which should be very soon.

It's possible to split XCI files.

Okay, following THIS link you'll find a list of serial number'ed switches that can be hacked safely, or MIGHT not be hackable.

My friend just sent me a picture of the Serial Number on the switch that he bought today. It falls in the category of "XAJ4004700X and above not safe to buy, possibly patched"

How can we determine, if at all, this switch has not had the exploits patched out of it?

Thanks for any help guys!

  1. Updates are universal and nothing else gets shared during that process so that's a negative
  2. Only difference between pirated content and legitimate games are certificates/tickets which are only required for online play so thats another nope

Guys question.I am currently on version 5.1 . Does updating my console to 6.2 through Choidojournx breaks the downgrade feature?I mean if I want to downgrade from 6.2 to 4.1 through my nand backup will I be able to do that later on?

Updating at all in official firmware mode will screw up your ability to downgrade. Not sure why my question was quoted, nothing to do with it.
Not in official mode of course.I am talking about updating from 5.1 to 6.2 through choidojournx I mean if I want to downgrade from 6.2 to 4.1 through my nand backup will I be able to do that later on?

o I was on 4.1.0 and using Atmosphere... I had a clean NAND from the start and I restored back to it. Am I better off updating to 6.2.0 over wifi... I assume I should probably take a new NAND backup at 6.2.0 at that point.

Just wondering what's the best way to get to 6.2.0. Thanks!

If you have auto RCM mode and don't boot into OFW then yes. You'll be able to downgrade in future

how does SX OS's new EmuNand work? Can you go online normally and not get banned while you are on emunand? ( assuming you aren't playing pirated games )
You don't go online with EmuNAND, you go online with SysNAND. The purpose of EmuNAND is for you to keep all of your CFW and homebrew there while you do legitimate stuff on SysNAND.

First step of any console hacking is making a NAND backup. You don't want a $300 paperweight now do you? Either use SX OS or Hekate, which is recommended (because it can verify the dump), to dump boot0/boot1 as well as the eMMC raw GPP.

Fuses are what you expect them to be; microscopic pieces of metal embedded in your console. They are designed to prevent downgrading. The way they accomplish is that they are burnt on major firmware updates. Then the console checks the fuse count with the firmware. If there are less fuses burnt than the firmware, then it will burn fuses to accommodate the difference. If there are more fuses burnt than the firmware, it will refuse to boot which is how it prevents consoles from downgrading by preventing them from running a firmware lower than the fuse count. And its impossible to unburn fuses so try your best at not burning them by never updating officially but rather with the homebrew application, ChoiDujourNX.

Speaking of ChoiDujourNX, it can patch any firmware it installs to have exFAT support except 1.0. But to use it on a system that doesn't support exFAT, you will have to format the SD card to FAT32. If the SD card is bigger than 32 GB, you will have to use a third-party application to do so such as GUIFormat. However its recommended to use FAT32 over exFAT as exFAT can corrupt your SD card and corruption is not fun; once an SD card is corrupted, only a format can fix it and if you have lots of files on that card, it will take a long time to not only back up the files but put them back. There are even ways to bypass the 4 GB limit on a FAT32 card that renders exFAT pointless.
What are the chances of getting banned if you only install homebrew launcher to use cfw and layered fs for game mods? No piracy
Greater than 0% but less than 100%
I have a card using exfat, is there a way to change to fat32 and keep my data?
Backup all of the contents on your SD card, format the SD card to FAT32 (if its larger than 32 GB, you will have to use a third-party program such as GUIFormat), and paste the contents back.
Just a quick question, do games need specific Firmwares to work? I was 4.0.1, updated to 5.0.1 with ChoiDujourNx to use exFat. I want to play the likes of Pokemon Lets go but am unsure if I need to update again?
Pokemon Let's Go requires a base firmware of 5.1

If you want a 100% absolutely clean NAND, you would burn fuses by updating online which forces you to make a new NAND dump as the fuse count of the firmware of the old NAND dump won't match your console after it updates. If you don't mind using ChoiDujour or ChoiDujourNX, you can use those to update your system to 6.2 without burning fuses keeping your original NAND backup intact as well as allowing you to downgrade to 4.1 or higher in case a future exploit comes out on those firmwares.

By ChoiDujour, I hope you are referring to ChoiDujourNX as ChoiDujour is a Windows client that takes roughly 30 minutes to an hour to update your firmware while ChoiDujourNX takes less than 5 minutes (I cannot stress this difference enough as it will make you and everyone else's life less complicated if you specify which tool you are using). But yes, either ChoiDujour or ChoiDujourNX enable AutoRCM by default when installing any firmware.

As mentioned above by MikeyT1998.

If a console serial is in the catagory of "may be patched" is there any way to determine which switches can be hacked and which can't?

Or is it just a case of trying?

Thanks

It's a case of just trying. There's a test payload you can use (fusee-test.bin), but you need to follow all the same instructions as if you were hacking it.
