I meant many people stating that they were updating even though they were using 90DNS. is that possible?
With 90dns I can not update even if I click it myself (server error).
People who received the update either received it from the titles (possibly updates) or made incorrect settings and did not make 90dnstest.
In the attachment the size of the update upon and installed.

I never knew Nintendo owned that many sites. I'm curious if Nintendo.se actually do anything. Since it's not own by Nintendo but Bergsala, that is a main distributor in the Nordics for Nintendo.

Actually nevermind that, I deleted the hosts file.

Turns out that hosts doesn't support wildcard entries, which is essential for 90dns to function.
Just use dnsmasq or BIND9.

If I'm already banned, and I use this, will I be able to go online still?

I tried to tweet a picture from my Albums, and thats when i found out i was banned (got the error code)

So, more specifically, will using this let me post that pic to Twitter?

Question could somethi g like this be made where ppl add a dns ip and then they can play ssbu and other lan games becuase i heard lan play was a virus going around "not a virus for the siwtch" but computer i was trying to lookup ways to make my own but i cant seem to find it

Using this simulates a ban so if you're already banned and you setup 90DNS, you've banned yourself...twice over.

The 30th of November I'll remember as the day I first sensed a bit of sarcasm in one of Draxzelex always factual and very appreciated responses. :)

Ah, the humanity. :)

Iirc you can still get a console update with a ban. 90DNS locks it out unless you hit a Nintendo hotspot or whatever carrying it around, or your isp does DNS hijacks.

Nope.

No, this wouldn't be possible. I think there's various projects that are aimed to solve this though, like ldn_mitm and xlink kai.

Not sure what you mean by this.

Here's some attempts at answering what you probably meant:

Q: Am I supposed to keep it on all the time?
A: Yes, you do keep it on all the time. Turning it off will send telemetry data to N, and you'll probably be banned.

Q: How long will you keep the server on? Always?
A: I do plan to keep the official DNS servers up for at least one more year, but if people are still using it then, I'll keep it up for more.

Q: Will it work on all software updates?
A: Yeah, it should work on 1.0.0-5.1.0. Might even work on 3DS or Wii U, though I only tested it on Switch (please let me know if it works on them). I can't comment on future software updates, that's up to Nintendo.

If your question isn't any of those, please feel free to ask again with a more clear wording.

not sure if this has been pointed out or not already, does also block wiiu, I learnt that one the hard way XD

Even with 90DNS I still get a message prompting me to update if I use WiFi (I clearly never went through and don't know if it will download anything), but the prompt disappears if I reboot.

I'll test for my provider with the python script when gitlab goes back online.

edit: it says that "5/5 queries had the expected result" and that it should be safe to use.

Is this about a game or firmware update?

If it is game, it's expected as game files contain information about the latest available version.

If it is indeed FW updates, DM me on discord.
